Some words from Fried Reim himself about the different designs in Lake People/Violectric Amps. http://www.head-fi.org/t/620082/lake-people-g109-g103-thread/390#post_12066716
Hard to go wrong with The Lake People/Violectric line of products. Sure, I'm biased. They make good gear. It might be more expensive than some other offerings, but you get what you pay for. I've owned the V100 and V181; both are stellar. I'm confident that the V90 won't disappoint any prospective buyers.
I could care less about nwavguy and the cult following that comes with his posts. However, scroll down to the 'amp categories' section for some idea of how the V90 differs from other amps. http://nwavguy.blogspot.com/2011/02/gain-and-headphone-ampsdacs.html

socks_OCDSort of unrelated but I know you have a v181 too. I finally got my HD800's hooked up to it balanced fed by the Grace M920 and uh, it is like uncomfortably awesome.

socks_OCDRead the link to nwavguy about amp internal differences and it is great, thank you, yet I'm stuck about learning details. What difference in sound might be expected from V100, V90, G109A/S and G103 ? Would be using a dozen + mixed models of dynamics and planars. The ease of gains changes on V90 is a plus.

nicpopeDuuude. I recently picked up an HD800 (anax modded) and custom balanced cable. You're right about them performing/sounding "uncomfortably awesome."
