A little bird told me that MassDrop might recognize the existence of G-Sync monitors in a couple years.
Don't quote me, on it. Rumors and whatnot.

MassDebatesThat would be nice. No G-Sync = no buy.

omgwafflesGSync tends to add $100-150 to a monitor though.

whomad1215Understood, but unless AMD starts making competitive high end graphics cards again, I won't buy a gaming monitor without G-Sync again.

whomad1215to get a monitor with this specs in g-sync is over 1000$

omgwafflesits easier to add freesync to a monitor because the demand for it would be lower, so they can get away charging customers an extra 50 even though they might not use it.

KedgeI understand the cost associated with freesync vs gsync, but freesync is not for me, which is why I think it'd be nice to see some G-sync monitors on here too.

omgwafflesthats what i mean. Companies try to stick freesync on what could be a good cheaper model, so they can get an extra 50 even though a customer might not want it. It's probably why massdrop get a lot of freesync over g sync too, as companies sell freesync inventory slower than gsync. Also, some customers don't know the difference of gsync and freesync, so they might buy freesync with an nvidia card.

kansurrAll the more reason to have them on here so we can get a better price, no?

omgwafflesOkay. Let me put it this way.
I'm a company with 2 monitors: gsync and freesync. My gsync sells for the overprice range that I have advertise on most sites as amazon, but my freesync is stacking due poor sales, so sellers from amazon are not willing to take more of this puppies from my shelves. Massdrop is a good option for this sellers that are willing to sell their product at a higher discounted price for the *minimum cost* which i doubt they do (but thats another story), so it's easier for companies to decide to back up massdrop sales for a freesync than gsync, as they have a lower volume of sales on those units.

Kedge I'm not saying all the stuff on massdrop are crappy or undesirable. A lot of good stuff gets sell in here and thats why im here looking for things to buy. I mean the gsync technology still to desirable that it lowers the chance for a massive 30-100$ discount on this site than what a manufacture could make on newegg or amazon. It's just a matter of a couple of years (probably 2 more years), when we will see a wider range of monitors with gsync technology, that it will become a norm and the hype for overprice cost would diminish.

KedgeAhh I think I understand now. It's not so much that Massdrop isn't trying to get deals on gsync monitors, it's more that the manufacturers aren't willing to give deals on them since they are selling well. Makes sense. Thank you.

omgwafflesyea, massdrop would probably sell us whatever they can grab on :)
A manufacture also makes a little extra to stamp freesync on it and force customer to pay for it, even though customer wont use it. It's sort of like 3d movies at the movie theater, you still get those sticky ugly glasses for cost admission even though you might bring your own, as they add it on the price that you pay for.

TelFiREYou gotta add the other features. Usually gsync comes with curve, ips, 3.5k resolution, 100hz, etc... it all adds up to the gsync cost.

KedgeThe features present on the only 2 monitors in existence that have GSync at this resolution are also present on this monitor. The extra is for Gsync, and only Gsync. And I ponied up like a sucker.

kansurrThat is the catch 22 isn't it. I bought a GTX 970, but cannot afford a G-sync ultrawide. If I had bought a RX380. I could have had a Free-sync ultrawide from MD a long time ago, but the performance was too low.
