I tested this on Victorinox kitchen knife that my buddy had badly dulled and broken the tip off of, and was really impressed with ease of use and the finished results. I found I was able to set and maintain a precise angle, which is maintained when the blade is reversed - pretty slick design IMO. Also very comfortable to use with the knob above the mounting plate for the stones at the end of the guide bar - I was using this for almost two hours and barely noticed any fatigue in my grip, which held even though I had plenty of the oil on my hands by the end.
I was even able to reprofile the blade* and give it a new tip using the 80-grit stone and a whole lot of oil. An 8" kitchen knife certainly tests the reach of a sharpening system, and I think that the stones are narrow enough that it would work for recurves and almost any blade shape. I will try to post some pics but TBH we took some video so we didn't take before/after photos, but the video just wasn't that exciting : | but it slices through paper easily.
Anyways, if you're looking for a sharpening system that holds an angle for you, I think this one has a number of cool features.
* First try at this, and I learned a lot. It took me about 90min to remove up to 3/8" of material with the 80-grit stone, and I didn't realize there was a slight curve from where the tip had broken. I was able to keep the blade edge centered, but that meant removing a lot more material from one side than the other, obviously weakening the blade to a degree. I also discovered some deep chips that would have required taking another 1/8" of material off the whole edge to remove, so it's by no means perfect but 500% better than it was before.

JonasHeinemanJust wanted to say thanks for bringing this system to the community. I didn't even know it existed. I didn't get in on the drop because of the (very understandable) lead time... but I will soon likely be purchasing this system that I didn't even know about.
Thanks to @1stmeridian for making this group-buy available to the community!
Subiesaurus_R3XAnd thanks to the community for making it great. I've made some improvements that will be added to this drop and future products based on feedback. I'm grateful for the open feedback and for the support as I build this business.
