I am generally not happy with this sharpener, having to readjust it every time you change side so that you don't get an uneven grind just sucks as far as I am concerned. Plus the stones are warped and the clamp is the wrong size and is always in the way. Not a good product IMO wish I just got a KME or edge pro instead for the price.

zaphrodboxI'm surprised to hear this. I haven't heard from you about issues. Everything you speak of has either been addressed or I haven't heard of. Stones warped? The only thing I can think is that you have the natural stones which are hand cut and therefore imperfect. In hindsight that was a bad idea for precision and they have been stopped. I'm happy to send you a set of new stones.
Clamp wrong size? If love to discuss these issues and make it right. Give me a call or send an email.

1stmeridianI had it out with massdrop immediately after purchase and they basically told me it tuff luck so I have made modifications and gotten parts from other sets to make it into a product I can use. Why ship a product with all of these issues and then fix them?
obiwankenobiVipersharp will do 7" no problem. The rod needs to be longer and preferably the stone as well for longer knives (10"-12"). The latest rod measurements for the ViperSharp is 8". Add that to the 4" of stone and the rod could technically reach up to perhaps 11.75 away from the bearing. That offers a pretty wide range for sharpening.
Glad this finally back, I find it a bit strange that MD couldn't transfer the V2 requests to the V3 knowing a lot of people requested them.
I don't frequent MD as much as I used too, mostly because I'm trying to stay way from buying unnecessary stuff, and a lot of the drops haven't been appealing to me.
Having said that, I just snagged one of those AAA Blue Titanium flash lights. I enjoy the look and size, plus the thing that sold me was not having to wait so long for the item to ship out, this makes a lot of difference with certain items being sold.
Jonas, you're forgetting that non-diamond abrasives will tear carbides out of the edge on any of the high carbide supersteels. Dulling will happen much more quickly, regardless of the polish you put on the blade.
The only way to polish or "sharpen" the carbides is with a media that is in fact harder than the carbides themselves. Stone wear on non-diamond abrasives is also acellerated a lot by sharpening supersteels. I can noticably dish out one of my Shapton Kuromaku stones on s30v before pulling a burr.
