Is there an actual ship date for these tops? Are they trying to get them delivered in time for Christmas? Not sure if the ship by 12/23 is a true estimate of when they will ship by or if that is 'worse case'?
MyGooseIsLooseI have both, the Mk1 in brass with ceramic bearing and the Lambda in copper with ruby bearing. The Mk1 has more visual weight, the Lambda looks smaller than you might expect. They're both capable of achieving the "still" spins where they look like they're suspended, but my Lambda achieves it more consistently — not sure if it's the design, the material or the bearing that does that. They both spin beautifully and are incredibly well-designed and well-machined.
I personally prefer the Lambda, but then the Lambda was the top that made me want a machined top to begin with. I think the Vorso Mk1 is a great first top that you'll be happy with if you never get another, and it'll be a top you continue to spin even after you build up a collection. The Lambda is the top you get if you know you're going to start a collection.
I can’t recommend these beauties enough. Don’t let the simple design fool you. They are gorgeous in their minimalism with just the right accents for a sophisticated look.
Weight is spot on for long spins that you will forget about until it tips and comes to a soothing stop.

Elsewhere here on MD are occasionally these beautiful laser cut bases (“Clear Cut Designs” I think). They fit with the lens being offered here in this drop.
glennacThanks. His pics are not very sharp. May Ibug you with a few more questions? Is the one above the 1031 or 1038? I like the hefty one in your dancing video though as well. What number is that one? How is the overall quality of the tops? They seem to spin well, which speaks to his skill set since he creates them using a lathe instead of a CNC based machine. Are the weights he gives of 30 to 50 grams good estimates? I like my tops as heavy as I can get them since that ensures longer and stable spins. I bought another top from someone else on Massdrop and those weights were just fantasy as were the advertised spin lengths. Needless to say, I've become a bit more cautious over time
Hey, I would caution folks against using this type of glass lens base unless it's recessed into some other sort of receptacle that drops it down and flush with the top of that receptacle.
I used this kind of unprotected lens as a base in the past. I made one errant spin and the top shot off the side.
As it left the base, the body of the top dropped onto the edge of the glass lens as it fell off the side.
Because of the fast spin rate, the body of the top chattered and skittered against the unprotected, unpolished edge of the glass when the tip dropped off the edge.
I was left with a series of cuts, or gouges, on the bottom edge of the main body, covering half the bottom perimeter of my ruby tipped MKI.
Serious bummer.
Be warned.
And yes, this is a fantastic top otherwise.
Am i missing something? It says the price varies according to the finish and if you choose ceramic or bronze. Well it dont atm. Ill kick myself if this means the ruby should be more expencive
I have 3 of these tops and they are among my favorites. Hefty and substantial. Long spin times and beautiful finish (all of mine are Polished ones)
Here’s a shot capturing all three spinning in unison (a happy accident).
