Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. 1. The caps lock key does not fit correctly on my keyboard. It is the correct size, however the mounting post is in a different position on the key. Do stepped and un-stepped caps lock keys have different mounting locations? The key I received was un-stepped, while the one on my keyboard is stepped. If this is the case is there a way to get a stepped version?
2. My keyboard has a non-standard bottom row. Since the spacebar is 7x, the Fn, Windows, and Menu keys are all 1x. Does anyone know where I can get individual PBT white keys for these 3 keys (The spacebar is a lost cause, its got nonstandard stabilizers as well). Backlit keys would be preferred, but I'm guessing they are non-existant.
If anyone could help me with either of these matter, it would be greatly appreciated. For reference, my keyboard is the Thermaltake POSEIDON Z, and the keycap set I purchased was the white set.
No idea about the 1x Win / Menu keys and 7x space cars. If you find out, let me know.
