The bracket keys are misprinted in the images. Are the keycaps misprinted or is this only an issue in the images?
stateboy
I think those bracket key keycaps have been put into the wrong place. They should be swapped and rotated 180 degrees. Since DSA keys in that row is symmetrical, swapping them shouldn't be a problem.

That makes sense.. Thank you!
It was on sale on Amazon a few days ago for $85. I bought two. It was the black one though. This white one looks really nice.
The silent black version is one of my most used keyboards, and this DSA keycap iteration looks cool. The only thing I really, really dislike is the useless Pn key. Another mod key on the right side would be so much better.

I would have bought this if I didn't already own the Vortex Race 3. Minus the top function key row is a big plus. However, I'm not a big fan of the border on this. Both the Race 3 and Core (I own both) do not have borders, so it takes up less space on my desk. I see that other places are going for $105, but only in black keycap (not a fan of black). Pay $5 extra for the white/grey + color keycaps. Sounds fair.

scottlu

Guess is it’s similar to the Magicforce. Between Shift and Fn layers you probably have access to Esc, ‘, and ~. just a guess
scottlu
You can create 3 different profiles (they call it 'layers' in the manual) so that you can change ESC to ~ and more. Manual: http://www.vortexgear.tw/db/upload/webdata4/6vortex_20188221365892480.pdf Or you can load it with a different keymap using Vortex's own online utility. http://www.vortexgear.tw/mpc/index.html Instruction: http://www.vortexgear.tw/mpc/plugin/Instructions.pdf

Reminds me a bit of my gk64. How's the software for programming this one as the software on the gk64 is atrociously bad.

If you use the online editor, you will lose onboard on-the-fly programming as it requires separate versions of the firmware to work. Keep that in mind. You could always reflash the original firmware, though.

Good to know.. I was very interested in the Cypher (maybe a future updated model will come out before I put my money into another board) but the software/program-ability doesn't seem very versatile.
So this almost perfect unless RGB looming. Possible?
Anyone keep up with keyboard news? I want this layout, but with RGB. I'm wondering if vortex will release and rgb version since the pcb has spots for LEDs.

Oh ok.. thanks for the advise.. I guess I assumed they might not want to say if they're releasing something like RGB cause it might reduce sales on the current cypher. I was looking at the vortex core and its pcb also has cut-outs for LEDs, but they haven't released an rgb version so I'm doubting they'll make one for the cypher, sadly. I hope I'm wrong.

I mean, it never hurts to try and ask, worst they can say is they can't divulge that information!
Does anyone know if modifying the keyboard using the online keycodes editor is compatible with a linux system?
scottms
It should be the same as the Vortex Core. The online editor basically spits out a loader file that you place onto the keyboard. There is a specific key combo to hold down as you plug in the keyboard that makes it act like a removable drive. You just place the file you downloaded from the online editor into that root folder and then unplug/plug back in the keyboard and the new keymap is loaded.
where are the F(n) keys?
Geralt
It's Fn + corresponding number.. so F1 = Fn + 1, F2 = Fn + 2, etc.

Just placed order for the silent reds, no more tactile bump - i've gotten used to it but meh.
Why an upcharge on the dull as dishwater "industry standard" MX Browns? For a $110 KB, this seems like picayune nickel and diming. Also, would be nice to see other key options on this and other KB drops besides only Cherrys. No longer cutting edge and overpriced. One can pay less and get more with other brands.

I read a lot about kailh box switches stems breaking or cracking keycaps.. is this still an issue?
m28m
Sources for Box switches have received the re-tooled ones by now. I have ordered several packs. Not an issue for this current drop, of course, since these are Cherry's. Check the usual sources for notices on their websites which say specifically they are the re-tooled ones.
No cherry green? Aw.
This is currently $87 on amazon. What is the advantage of purchasing it here?

ohhh okay. Thank you!

Also notice the keycaps on Amazon are OEM profile, not DSA, and that they are laser-engraved, whereas the ones here are dye-subbed. Also, the colored keys you get here.
