Hey everyone, spoke to Vortex about the keycap issue I'm seeing and was told our batch was upgraded to the ABS doubleshot shine through keycaps instead of the usual laser etched set that would ship with backlit Pok3rs. However, the side legends are not available with the doubleshots. In the future, we'll do our due diligence with samples, and confirm it absolutely looks like the production version or is otherwise clearly stated.

YanboWuI don't think that resolves this at all. Consider the fact that the function layer is a main selling point of this keyboard and will be a chore to use without the labels. Perhaps make the Fn labeled caps available at an appropriate price to those who want it.

YanboWuThanks for following up with the manufacturer. I have to say though that calling the caps an "upgrade" (not sure if that was your wording or theirs) is a bit disingenuous. When you sell a product that relies so heavily on keys having multiple functions, and then choose not to even include a manual with that product, having the alternate functions labeled becomes *essential*. Regardless of the higher quality of the other keycaps, their inclusion effects the product's functionality, and is most certainly a downgrade for that reason.
Regardless of how one chooses to look at it, the communication should have come from Vortex (and then from Massdrop to the consumer) that the product going to ship in a different state than it has in the past.

YanboWuNot only did mine arrive with different keycaps, but the space bar is a different color, and I have chipped paint/rust on the backplate.

RustbeltNickAgreed. You can't just misrepresent an item and then shrug it off as an upgrade when major functionality is lost. Being more careful with your future descriptions does nothing for all the people in this drop not able to use their Pok3r's core functions.
Massdrop, please make this right.

The keycaps look like the backlit PBT (not ABS as previously stated) set to me: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/vortex-backlit-doubleshot-pbt-keycaps Aside from the missing function labels the legends are vertically stacked which means the numbers and other bottom legends won't light up (stock keycaps have horizontal legends). I think the font is quite ugly too. Definately far from advertised.

MingThanks for the info Ming. I probably will send it back. I have a DAS Keyboard 4 Ultimate, and was expecting similar quality. So far, very disappointed.

NuinThat's the plan at this point. The more I look at the keys, the worse it looks. Plus, not having the functions printed makes it almost useless for me. I'm not going to disassemble it to correct it myself...as that would defeat the purpose of buying it in the first place.

How do you do per-key RGB lighting on a Shift V2?

I saw the online configurator that lets you do this on the Shift V1, where it spits out a compiled firmware file to flash. The V2 doesn't seem to have this function in the Windows configurator, though. I can't imagine the answer here is "you're going to have to manually write the hex for every key in QMK, compile it, and flash that".
