Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. Vortex Pok3r keyboard with backlit functionality was supposed to ship with backlit ABS laser etched keycaps. Unfortunately, due to shortage Vortex decided to ship the keyboards with ABS doubleshot backlit keycaps instead without alerting us ahead of time.
ABS doubleshot backlit keycaps are both much higher quality and also substantially more expensive compared to the ABS laser etched keycaps. Vortex wanted to do right by the community and assumed it’d be a reasonable replacement.
We understand this change might not be acceptable by some members. If you’d rather return/cancel your order for full refund, please feel free to reach out to Massdrop Support before Mar 23, 2016 from the transactions tab for further assistance.
"We asked Vortex to make the labeled keycaps available for purchase on its own but they couldn't/wouldn't do it because of blah reason" or "MD can't/won't offer the labeled keycaps for purchase because of blah reason".
Or clarifying how cancellations will be handled. Say an order has shipped but not yet arrived, should the recipient refuse delivery? Will MD cover return shipping costs since it's your error?
I contacted support 2 days ago requesting a cancellation - no response. Tried clicking the ticket link in the email - my MD login doesn't work with your support system.
