I might be interested if the board had the following characteristics: + Fully programmable via TMK or QMK. + SA profile instead of DSA profile. + Wider choice of switch types, including Silent Black and/or Gateron Yellow.

HypersphereThey are SA profile, except the entire board is R3

bfitzThanks for the correction. My own preference is for a sculpted profile, where all rows are not the same.

HypersphereI just put a set of miami nights on and it definitely feels like a different board. The strict R3 look is neat, but getting this board in speed silver silent switches was a bad move, there's something about those keys that makes it feel marshmallowy.
The vibe's original keys now sit happily on my pok3r with browns, feels waaay better on that.

daisuraThanks for sharing your experience with different keycaps. Although it adds to the overall expense, I usually end up putting a different set of keycaps on keyboards that I purchase anyway. However, the swap is often easier to justify, such as exchanging pad-printed or lasered ABS caps with dye-sub PBT. The situation with the VIBE is different -- the stock caps are already beautiful; it's just not the right profile for me.
My main issue with the VIBE and the Pok3R (apart from the fact that I am not keen on Cherry mx or mx clone switches) is their particular programmability. I like to use the Right Ctrl as my Fn key, and apparently with these boards, you cannot remap the Right Ctrl using the keyboard's built-in remapping functions. It is, however, possible to remap the Right Ctrl using other means, such as the Hasu USB-USB converter or remapping software, such as Karabiner for Mac or ATNsoft Key Manager for Windows.
Despite these preference issues, the VIBE is certainly a handsome board, which makes the purchase difficult to resist.

Hyperspherejust tested it to make sure, since remapping FN requires FN+left shift for 5 seconds, instead of the usual FN+RCTRL to enter programming mode. Then you just hit the key you want to become an FN and it's done. They had to put out a firmware update specifically to allow the pok3r style capslock=FN so I figured it may have affected other keys as well
unfortunately you're still correct. While LCTRL was FN-able, RCTRL was not. Might be hard coded to avoid screwing up the programming combo.

daisuraMany thanks for running the programming tests! This is very useful information.
Vortex no doubt has a lot invested in their method of programming keyboards, but I still wish they would convert to something akin to TMK or QMK for total programmability of every key, including R_Ctrl.

daisuraI have the vibe in Browns. Tried one with silver and yeah, mushy.
That said. I'm waiting patiently for my susuwatari MT3 set. In the meantime though I'm thinking of grabbing SA Ice Cap icon mods and numpad and jumping on troubled minds alphas.
Even with the green text on alphas, the purple/white clash would look great.
I'm also praying that SA Pulse gets another drop.
