Why is MassDrop STILL using these original MassDrop photos that show the hammock suspension set up totally incorrectly? I'd think that would drive the Warbonnet folks nuts.

scopeThere is, but the way shown in the picture is not the way the loop nor carabiner are designed to be utilized. The strap is suppose to wrap around the tree trunk fully and then the long end is suppose to thread through the loop there against the tree.
There are two different kinds of straps depending if you choose the whoopie sling suspension or the buckle suspension. If you choose the buckle suspension the straps are much longer and only looped on one end. You have the option of using the carabiner in that looped end to snap around the strap instead of threading the strap through itself to snug it up around the tree. ...If you choose the whoopie slings, your straps will be shorter and looped at both ends. In that case, you thread the strap through itself to secure it firmly around the tree and you use the carabiner to hook the loop of the whoopie sling to the loop of the free end of the strap.
NEVER, EVER, EVER would you Hook the carabiner into the buckle as shown in one of the pictures. That is unsafe. Good way to make the buckles fail and drop you. It is irresponsible to continue utilizing pictures that demonstrate unsafe set up. People will look at that photo and go off and set their new hammock up accordingly and then have an accident because of it. Thing is, Mass Drop was told by numerous people LAST time that their photos showed an incorrect set up. I understand them not being able to take the photos down last time, but to continue using them in subsequent drops is poor business practice. Just tagging a quickie disclaimer to see the Warbonnet video for correct setup is inadequate. Most folks won't take the time to go to a video when they have a seemingly straightforward picture in front of them of what they assume IS the correct setup! MassDrop could've simply deleted the erroneous pictures if they didn't have time to take new ones. Some of the photos don't show any part if the suspension so no way to tell in those that the hammock is set up incorrectly. They could have just used those.

DublinlinAgreed, I missed the clip on the buckle. I guess these are Massdrop marketing pics? Someone has become to engrained with the asinine use of material doubled over on itself to make multiple loops to clip to. Folks, this is what we call a continuous suspension, one that allows you to adjust in a continuous manner by pulling the webbing through the buckle, you don't clip to it in segments. Its better, its lighter, and once you get over the whole "clip to" thing, you realize its much easier to use.
Personally, I don't use a clip on mine, I just go through the loop so that the webbing is tight around the tree, and then to the buckle.
One other thing if folks are wondering why this Warbonnet product seems more expensive than others appearing here, its because this is an 11' hammock (more material), a size that has become the established norm for a sleeping/camping hammock, as well as the aforementioned better suspension that is often an add-on with other makes (another annoying aspect of the cheapie makers).

scopeYeah, we talked about the bad hammock setup during the first drop for Warbonnet. That was my bad in the photo shoot and we'll try to correct it before the next drop. Thanks @Dublinlin
