From Indonesian denim brand WARPWEFTco, the Superior Ten Special is a limited release featuring 15-ounce unsanforized blue-line selvage denim. Woven in Okayama, Japan exclusively for WARPWEFTco, the denim is made with a rope-dyed indigo warp and a matching indigo weft. This makes for a rich, saturated shade of blue, complete with tonal stitching, stealth arcs on the back pockets, and an indigo-dyed patterned fabric lining. As a finishing touch, the deerskin leather patch is stamped with a cotton flower. Taking up almost the entirety of the patch, this symbolizes the first step of any denim garment, the cotton plant, and the company’s commitment to this foundational element.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice of fit (slim straight or slim tapered), wash (unwashed or one-rinse wash), and waist size (28, 29, 30, 32, 33, 34, 36, or 38). Unwashed denim will shrink to fit after the first wash, while the one-rinse version takes care of the initial shrinkage. For sizing charts, please see below. This run is limited to 36 units and all jeans are made to order.
Unsanforized denim is made from cloth that hasn’t been through sanforization: the process of stretching, fixing, and shrinking fabric at the mill. As a result, unsanforized denim will shrink considerably after the first wash, especially lengthwise, with the inseam coming up about 2 inches to its final length of 34 inches. To achieve the perfect fit, we recommend putting the jeans on and then hopping into a lukewarm bath for about 30 to 45 minutes, then removing them and hanging them up to dry. The fabric will shrink after the initial soak and may feel quite snug at the waist and hips. After a few days, it’ll stretch back to the labeled size and fit comfortably. For those who are new to unsanforized denim or prefer an immediate fit, WARPWEFTco has offered to do the initial soak free of charge.
