Did anyone get one of these? I guess not? Not a huge surprise, I really don't get what this maker is about....
Hey everyone,
We haven't heard from the vendor about this shipment since last week, but it's possible that the holiday has delayed their communication in informing us that the units have indeed shipped.
We still understand that the additional wait time is undesirable. If you would prefer to cancel your order, please contact Community Support using the “Contact Support” button in your transactions page (http://massdrop.com/transactions).
You can expect an update from us on 1/4 or sooner if something comes up.
If you have any questions, please visit our Help Center (http://massdrop.com/helpcenter).

So any update? This seems to have gone exactly how I thought it would.

We've continued to coordinate with the vendor about the group's order and they've let us know that it's taken them slightly longer than expected to gather and prepare everything for shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey. Rest assured, we will remain in close contact with them and update the group as soon as everything is on the way.

Just about there! We've been in touch with the vendor regarding the group's order and they've let us know that they are still working to gather and pack the group's order for shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey. We will continue to check in with them throughout the fulfillment process and update the group again as soon as everything is en route to us!

Thanks again for joining this drop! We have submitted the group's order with the vendor for the Warren Thomas Kiridashi and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.
As soon as the group's order is ready at the vendor's location, they will send the bulk shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey where our warehouse team will break it up into individual orders and ship them. The current estimated ship date from our warehouse is 11/25.
We will keep the group updated throughout the fulfillment process. You can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 11/14.

Ive got enough titanium and G10 to make about 30 of these things, could probably knock them out in about 10 minutes of actual work not counting the drying time for the epoxy. $130, what a scam.

Hoopla blabs more rambunctiously than conversation.
Looks like those shivs we used to make in metalshop back in high school :).
Looks to be fairly mediocre fit and finish for that large of a mark-up.
This is very very very unique. Love that they are pushing the envelope and innovating. We need more like this. ((Is it just me, but wish the price was a bit lower))

Sorry if I sounded condescending =( I was just very surprised to see a utility knife made out of titanium (what? why?). These things are very neat and only cost $15. I have one myself and it holds an amazing edge due to the steel used. Mostly its just for show though - the lack of any real grip limits its utility. These are meant for fine detail work.

Hey no problem!!! After reading your comments, I did more research and you make complete sense. The real utility of some of these products I really question.
This looks totally unique! Truly a piece of art! And it even says "self defense", I must have this, I will be the coolest mall ninja of them all! ROFLMFAO. What a joke!
Looks like Massdrop is going for the record of longest time for delivered order, I think they just succeeded. People's grandchildren are going to be waiting for these to come.
What an amazing piece of art! How would one go about sharpening it? I really need a belt attachment. Possible?
fickle artist, they say...

Yeah, the novelty factor is very high. The main positive is that this thing will weigh basically nothing and there's nothing to rust.
17 people bought what looks like a sharpened piece of scrap metal?
My Japanese (born and raised in Japan) wife just told me that this is the first time she has ever heard the word "Kiridashi". When I read to her the description that it is traditionally used by Japanese children to sharpen pencils she laughed and said "I don't think so".

What are you on about? My wife was born and raised in Japan and she knows what they are. Of course they don't use them nowadays. The kids over here now think Starbucks is Japanese.
I've always wanted to conceal carry a prison shank. Now I can for only $130.

And I've been carrying around a toothbrush this whole time...
Is that carbon fibre? Looks like G10?

You're 100% correct, totally my fault for missing that. We've updated the page and will send a message to everyone who joined so those folks have a chance to cancel if they want. Really appreciate you flagging this, apologies and thanks!
Do you have these in stock already, or will Warren Thomas be making them specifically for the order? If they are not in stock, I would have to warn people that there's a very good chance that Warren Thomas will not deliver the order on time, or at all. He has developed a very bad reputation over the past 10 years, and many of those in the custom knife collection field know to stay away. Don't just take my word for it, research him for yourself. It's all very well documented online.

If a vendor is unable to ship any order in a reasonable timeframe, we'll issue refunds. That doesn't happen at midnight exactly on our Estimated Ship Date - things happen that sometimes cause legitimate delays, especially when goods are made-to-order - but we also need to see progress on the vendor's side and have confidence that goods are going to be shipping soon. If that isn't happening (usually within a week of the estimated date), we'll either offer the option to keep waiting or cancel completely.

Thanks very much for your reply.
I am supporter of Massdrop and have no ill intention here. Just thought potential buyers have to make a well informed decision to join the drop.
i'd love to know the rockwell hardness on this as titanium alloys are notoriously soft.
Keng
Yes, Titanium is soft, and is why it is a bad choice for liner locks. I have no experience with any Titanium knives, but I wouldn't risk the coin to buy one because of this. Be good to hear from someone who does have experience.
Keng
The part of the blade that's doing most of the cutting are the tungsten carbides welded on the flat Ti side of the edge, and they are typically HRC 70-80.
I use a traditional one for actual woodwork/carpentry for marking and carving - which requires regular sharpening and care, but is incredibly sharp. Can anybody tell me how this might compare?

Why is MassDrop getting involved with WarrenThomas have the people in charge been under a rock the past few years.

I am a big fan of titanium. Mummert makes some nice titanium knives. His carbidization process has excellent penetration into the titanium. His edges test out to 72 Rockwell. My own Mummert slices extremely well. I haven't needed to touch it up. For anyone interested in this drop, 1-2 oz blades are a joy to carry... My daily use Mummert and an advert from Monkey Edge below...
