i have always struggled understanding Zealios.. i know that they are supposed to be smoother, pre lubed and all. And i know there is a key difference in weighting and what the number is referenced bottoming out vs actuation. ok so mx-clears; Tactile force 65 cN Actuation force 55 cN , Peak force ca. 95 cN. (source DT wiki) What's the Tactile force ?? is that the force of the bump ? i always thought that was the Actuation force? btw i have a stock mx-clear board like the tactile feel but find them to heavy that's why i switched to topre for the time being ..don't have soldering hardware. -- 65g Zealios - Smooth, long, drawn out tactile bump in the middle. Nice cushion during bottom out. No further info (source ZealPC groupbuy site).. 67g talks about being even crisper. and to confuse me even more.. 78g Zealios - For those that prefer a slightly lighter MX Clear, but want a similar snappy tactile bump like our 67g Zealios
so for someone that is looking for a lighter mx-clear but likes the tactile bump??? btw i was thinking of ordering a sample pack right from aliexpress but because i read R9 on the ZealPc site i thought getting a sample pack would be useless because of all the revisions ..you never know which revision you are getting.. anyone that can direct me to sum in depth info perhaps a couple of sources would be appreciated..

TuxKeyyou can try jailhouse blues if you want a lighter switch but still have a nice tactile bump, or just change the springs of a heavier tactile switch

TuxKeyClears are already too heavy for most people, so the stems often get used with lighter springs to make 'ergo clears'. Zealios have a great tactile bump with a wider range of weights, and as was linked, HaaTa did some tests. 65-67g are the more popular versions I've seen used, and are definitely in a decent sweet spot of weights.
With regards to revisions, they are more about production runs themselves. Actual revisions that have taken place have less to do with the tactile bump, and more about fixing 'pingy' springs or housing issues. If you get a sample pack, they will still convey what the switches feel like, no matter the generation.

TuxKeyI had a board with MX clears for about 2 years before I got into customs. I barely used it because it was so heavy. I bit the bullet and decided to desolder it and do an ergo clear conversion. In the process I learned a lot, killed the PCB with static, and built a Phantom out of the corpse. Ergo clears are by far my favorite MX switch. If you find stock MX clear too heavy, as I did too, then I can highly recommend 65g ergo clears. They are my go-to switch.
I have some 62g zealios in a macro pad, but I still prefer the ergos. One day, if I can stomach the price I will buy enough 65g zeals to fill a board.

TuxKeyThe 65g Zealio is the closest you will get to a lighter Cherry Clear. The bumps feel about the same. The 67g Zealio crispiness they are talking about is that the 67 g has greater initial resistance to being pressed and ramps up with it's bump really fast and then releases as you overcome the tactile bump. It 'snaps' down, making the tactile feel of the switch fast and crispy. :D A sample pack isn't a bad idea but I do think the 65g sounds up your alley if you like the clears but they are heavy.

CyphreThanks i did not know that about the revision very informative thx for sharing. btw i have the link/site open you pointed me to. of course i heard about all the great work HaaTa is doing with his measuring / graph setup heard him talking about it on TopClack. To be honest with you the one problem that has kept me from going in depth and looking at the graphs. is the same reason why i tell managers i don't like making system performance graphs as a former unix sysadmin.. alas in this situation i'm the manager being clueless how to interpret the data on that interesting looking graph. Having a closer first look i can somewhat translate the numbers in the list with the event shown in the graphs. (at least i think i do).. like first high peak blue line is the Tactile Peak Force ~55gf. the arrow marked Press seems to correspond with the Actuation Force ~33Gf ..etc.. also i did try to compare the Gateron Zealio with mx-clears and i did notice the big difference with the Spring Force / Actuation Force/ and perhaps most important Tactile Peak Force... i guess the only thing that's making me hesitant to come to a conclusion is that i would want someone to do a youtube vid explaining his interpretation of the two and a graph. i just found one actually the best one out there from fellow DT member Chyrosran22 ... perhaps he can make one about interpreting force graphs.. haha here's the one i found.. https://youtu.be/YyoB9rEzOeY ..i will look in to it further after my exam period next week..doing it now during my brakes hahaha ..

yanfalithanks very enlightening.. guess i'l have to go in to soldering ..but i think i'm better of selling my unique FC660M with mx-clears (unique because Leopold announced they are stopping with mx-clears) to someone that appreciates them and building something from the ground up with a Tada..the only thing i don't like about the FC660M is that i'ts not programmable .. i have gotten used to my FC660C with Hasu controller that i find myself missing it ...so spending the time and energy on a non programmable board doesn't sound that good to me.. btw that's a bit of bad luck with the static i modded my topre board standing haha was afraid of sitting on my static chair with current dry weather.. thank god nothing happened.. i do like the sound of learning more about DIY'ng sounds like a worthwhile investment in your self..

zjskthanks appreciate your explanation that helps with looking at a HaaTa graph and trying to interpret what i'm looking at...

TuxKeyThe numbers themselves in HaaTa's graphs are less important than the curve of the graph. The best way to use his force curve graphs is comparing the ones you've felt before (like a traditional Brown MX switch) versus another prospective key you are interested in. In this case, Zealios will have a noticeably larger actuation hump.
Of course it's no simple matter, and at the end of the day, feeling it for yourself is the only real way to know, but the graphs make for a good comparison.

Cyphrei see very useful i understand what you mean.. i'm verry curios about the feel of Zeal..think i'l pass this board and go on aliexpress buy an empty Acrylic tester frame and grab 5 of each weight from zeal site and see what i like.. i figure a row of 5 fingers would give me a better feel / idea then just on key ..that would be useless.. will cost me €40 or something like that..with shipping but well worth it ... if only to finally get an idea
