First, let me say thank you to all the positive commenters! I appreciate your kind words and support! Secondly, I would like to explain the actual process involved in making one of these. First is cutting out and punching holes in the leather, gluing and stitching each piece (top and bottom), reinforce gluing the corners, and wet forming the corners. Then hand carving the lines, beveling, adding texture, adding the logo, adding the distressing, Base dying the leather red, blue, and tan, . Then 14, (YES 14) different colors are hand mixed and used to paint the detail. Then 3 coats of sealer per side, Each of these take an average of five to six hours. Consider that at an hourly rate fair to 8 Years of experience making quality custom leather goods. Then we have material costs such as, Zippo, leather, glue, thread, dye, paint, stain, sealer, then consider a small cost for tool wear, and things like shop rent and electricity. Packaging and shipping costs are all taken into account.
Although we have an established business, we are happy to be able to bring our years of experience and high end Luxury goods to a broader market. From the handcrafted form and fitment to the high detail painting of our Artwork, Our process harkens to a day of old. American Pride, Quality craftsmanship, a higher attention to detail, superior materials, and a perserverence to make the best items we possibly can at a fair price.
Thank you for your time, and especially thank you to those with positive comments and feedback.
Cheers, - Danny

WastelandOdditiesIt's hard to take the designer/vendor of this seriously when they're talking shit about the MD community on Instagram for calling this out on being overpriced.
People aren't hating on the fact that it's handmade or what the materials are or anything like that, it purely boils down to being $160 for a Zippo that spends its entire life hidden away minus the 5 seconds it takes to use it.
Yes, you're using high quality material and it's all done by hand and as someone who makes knives I can absolutely respect the process and love that goes into it, but the price is and forever will be the biggest issue people have with it.
Someone having an issue with the price for this item isn't a hater, they're simply a person who doesn't see it the way you/your customers do. People call out many different things on here for being overpriced, it isn't purely focused on "cheap mass produced items".

DynamiklolWO has been courteous and calm in the face of undeserved criticism. WO is a new vendor here and has suggested their followers join Mass Drop to be able to buy their and other vendors products. That makes all of us new whom he has referred here. I I Assumed Mass Drop existed to sell products and make profit. I did not realize it was an exclusive "community" to which I am, obviously not welcome. I am sure you will all rejoice as I will be UNSUBSCRIBING. I'm sure the Mods will be very pleased that you are doing such a fine job of welcoming potential paying customers. [SIC]

DynamiklolYou are correct, someone having an issue with the price isn't a Hater at all. I know as well as anyone, that, they are not for everyone. But when one comments negatively on such facts, just for the joy of saying "here I am over here disagreeing with this" what would you call that? Why comment on an item at all that you have no interest in purchasing or reviewing? What good does that do? Coming back to comment negatively time and time again on an item they obviously don't like... Now that's something I just don't get...

WastelandOdditiesWhy comment at all? Because that's our right as a community member.
This is basically an open forum for public opinion on the item being sold or "dropped". People comment in hopes that a lower price can be established or a different design will be made available or any number of things, including just general negative feedback.
I'd absolutely buy one if the price weren't so ridiculous. I LOVE some of the designs you've made in the past as well as the bottle cleavers.
I also completely understand that you wanted to spread the word on this, no one can fault you for that because any smart business person would do the same, but to refer to the people speaking negatively of your product as "haters" and to then dismiss the MD community as a whole by saying "massdrops client base mostly likes cheap mass produced items." doesn't help.

DynamiklolYou're correct, it was wrong of me to lump most of Massdrops client base together with a generalized assumption from the drops I've seen certain negative commenters take part in/versus their comments elsewhere.. My apologies to those who shouldn't be included in such a generalization.

DynamiklolI was admittedly amused by all the unabashed whiteknighting of Danny's ra-ra squad.
