First, let me say thank you to all the positive commenters! I appreciate your kind words and support! Secondly, I would like to explain the actual process involved in making one of these. First is cutting out and punching holes in the leather, gluing and stitching each piece (top and bottom), reinforce gluing the corners, and wet forming the corners. Then hand carving the lines, beveling, adding texture, adding the logo, adding the distressing, Base dying the leather red, blue, and tan, . Then 14, (YES 14) different colors are hand mixed and used to paint the detail. Then 3 coats of sealer per side, Each of these take an average of five to six hours. Consider that at an hourly rate fair to 8 Years of experience making quality custom leather goods. Then we have material costs such as, Zippo, leather, glue, thread, dye, paint, stain, sealer, then consider a small cost for tool wear, and things like shop rent and electricity. Packaging and shipping costs are all taken into account.
Although we have an established business, we are happy to be able to bring our years of experience and high end Luxury goods to a broader market. From the handcrafted form and fitment to the high detail painting of our Artwork, Our process harkens to a day of old. American Pride, Quality craftsmanship, a higher attention to detail, superior materials, and a perserverence to make the best items we possibly can at a fair price.
Thank you for your time, and especially thank you to those with positive comments and feedback.
Cheers,
- Danny
