DeviousdavisI hear you........prefer to support the locals. That said, I have some folders that come out of the Far East (no choice really), and were put together well. But it can be a crap shoot sometimes. In all the years I've bought from American makers - have NEVER been disappointed in the pride and quality they have put into their products!

Deviousdavisyou would not be disappointed with the top tier of Chinese knives from makers like We knives, Reate, and Rike just to name a few. also they do have USA reps for warranty. as for sharpening I hear its not difficult at all. but you can always send it to an expert.
these 3 Chinese manufacturer's are on par or surpass american factories. take for example the Todd begg field marshal which is manufactured by rike. some of the quartermaster knives are made by we knives (QM lie about them being made in USA).
Vlad from blades101 is the USA rep, really cool guy ask him about any concerns you have, he collects some high end knives. heres vlads youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFVdtI1qlSeR2VsWMDqaoLw/videos?&ab_channel=VKnives

DeviousdavisThe Chinese knife industry are easily surpass the U.S makers. U.S Makers overpice their knife and make idiots buy them.

DeviousdavisDoesn't matter if you like China. These knives are far higher quality than anything the U.S is producing for the same price minus a few companies like Southern Grind.

HowAmIIt kind of does matter. If he doesn't want to buy it he doesn't want to buy it. Just like how you have a bias against U.S. makers for being "overpriced and for idiots", he has a bias against Chinese makers. Whether or not those biases are unfounded or not, it is ultimately up to the buyer. Especially on luxury items such as higher-end knifes.

LukeRHLActually buying a knife from China doesn't matter as you get what you pay for, and that's a high end build quality knife. Meanwhile in the U.S you have overpriced knives like Emerson, Chris Reeve, Strider, Hinderer, Spyderco, the list goes on. All knives twice the price of their actual value.

DeviousdavisAs I said up above, I have knives in my collection that are both domestic and foreign. Domestic knives have been solid, good quality in general. So have some knives from the far east......but not all. It is a gamble. I research blogs and video reviews before making a purchase. Unfortunately, regardless of statements about cost, some foreign knives are utter crap - so you get what you pay for. So do your homework and do not get burned. Not so from domestic producers because they value their reputation and can be held readily accountable. As for "overpriced", no worries mate, because you do not have any of those in your collection to appreciate what a quality product can truly be.

MansterI agree with buying local (domestic). As for not having any quality knives in my collection, I don't think I agree with that at all. I think Gavco and adv are pretty high quality and there are a few of those in my collection. Dark timber, bark river, zt, Chris Reeves, etc. But to each his own.

MansterChris Reeve, Hinderer, Spyderco, Emerson, Kershaw, CRKT, Benchmade, The list goes on. Stop spreading bullshit information claiming you'll have better QC from an American manufacturer than a foreign manufacturer. U.S Knives are overpriced for their materials and you pay for a name. If you don't believe that then go do some research.

DeviousdavisRETARD ALERT You're obviously so idiotic that you don't even know that foreign made knives DESTROY the crappy American knives. Who cares about Benchmade KAI CRKT Spyderco Emerson Hinderer CRK all made horrendous quality knives meanwhile WE Knives destroy every company in every category. If you don't know thet American knife companies can't keep up with out of country manufacturers then you need to do some research. Enjoy your crappy tolerances build quality and heat treated knives!
