Dont listen to the china bashing posts, they are not to be trusted. they do this in every product thread that is made in china.
WE Knives are the highest quality chinese made knives and are in most cases better than american made knives. 100% hands down. do yourself a favor and look at the real reviews, there are ZERO complaints about quality and craftmanship.

anonomousAgreed wholehartedly. There are actually some really top notch pieces coming out of china these days. Certainly beats the pants off anything chris reeve offers in this price range...which is nothing.

The issue is that 99% of every production knife is a totally automated process. Even Chris Reeve runs his whole business with like 40 people. You're not providing many jobs, and in many cases the "craftsmanship" you're getting on those US made knives is exactly the same as china...some guy sitting next to the machine with a go-no-go gauge.
I support companies that make good products for the asking price. That's why I stopped buying benchmade and CRK. Both overpriced for everything you get, no matter what price range you enter into. At some point, it's not the cost of American production, but the cost of American Production Huburis that makes the makers feel like they can charge whatever they want for an item for even though they've been far surpassed by the world around them in terms of production quality and price years ago.

I mean, look at what spyderco produces in the 200 dollar price range, and then compare that to benchmade's lineup (which is pretty slim pickin's under 200 bucks since the MAP increase), and then look at WE and Kizer and tell me both companies aren't good for the totally stagnant US knife market. I give it a year before they really start whipping big US names into shape. These are around Emerson prices. Compare the F&F and design of these to literally ANY Emerson, heh.

If it's any consolation, WE uses US made steel from Crucible and Boehler. They work with US knife designers. So...if your neighbor is a steel worker or a designer...WE might be keeping them off the crack.
Now...once you handle a WE, YOU'LL be addicted to a new kind of Crack but your neighbors won't mind too much. ;-)
