I wanted to chime in on this one. I'm pretty into knives and I own a Wicked Edge myself. I can't answer Zhao's question because the one for sale here has a different base than what mine has. Mine came with the base as part of the package. It also came with 3 sets of balsa strops for polishing. Those aren't necessary to get a super crazy sharp edge. they just make it look shiny like a mirror.
I did want to let everyone know about my experience so that they will enjoy theirs more. When I first got mine, the diamond stones weren't broken in yet and the first couple knives I sharpened didn't turn out so great. After about 3 or 4 knives, the results are amazing. With that in mind, I recommend that you sharpen some old beaters before you try sharpening your $500 safe queen ;-) I also recommend getting the 1200/1600 ceramic stones. They really finish up the blades nicely. Anything finer than that and you're polishing vs. sharpening (IMHO). https://www.amazon.com/Wicked-Edge-Superfine-Ceramics-1200/dp/B006WRH5SK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490280303&sr=8-1

That_One_GuyThanks. Any thoughts on the Gen2 versus Gen3 clamp?

motocoderMine is gen 2 so I can't say too much about the 3 except that I always use a piece of card stock (like from a business card) between the vice and the knife. that way I don't scratch it and I think I get a better grip too. I don't know that I've ever had an issue with holding any knife so I haven't looked into anything else. I did upgrade from gen 1 to gen 2 on the arms and I recommend not getting a 1. The ball joints work much better than the hinged ones did.

That_One_GuyYep, that's the post I was referring to above. I've never seen anyone from WickedEdge acknowledge or refute that.
