Buy the Worksharp and get a much sharper, longer lasting (convex) edge. At about a 1/3 the price. And it is a lot easier to use as well....

garage_logiciani dont like mine, it doesnt work right. the damn thing doesnt do both sides evenly, i think somethings wrong with the plastic guide. i rather get one of these edge pro's. not only that but the worksharp only has 2 diamond belts, the leather strops for the worksharp are completely bad to use and more. but yea, i thought the same thing you did... until i bought one and it left me wanting more. also not to mention I DONT want a convex edge on all my knives.

anonomousThat's good to know. I also read a review on Amazon that the Worksharp will tend to create fine scratches on the sides of the knife due to grit buildup on the guide. That would disqualify it for my purposes.
I looked at the Edge Pro some time ago and it does look pretty good, but I like that this allows you to sharpen both sides without having to reverse the the blade in the mount. I think this solution looks better, and the price is similar from what I can see.

RathI have an edge pro and it works well, you can buy rare earth magnets that mount under the table, helps hold the blade in place though certainly not necessary. Since you do have to flip the blade to do both sides there is the potential for grit that will scratch blade, just a quick wipe solves it. Also have the work sharp and it works, but it's far from perfect: repeatability is hit or miss and there's only a few angles to choose from, also it's easy to overheat the metal on some of the finer grits. As for this sharpener this is a great price for a quality tool.
EDIT: be aware there are fake edge pros out there that aren't nearly as good, I imagine the same can be said for this sharpener so don't get suckered by a crazy low price.

LeftybfhrggGood to know, thank you. That's more or less what I expected from both products (Edge Pro / Worksharp).
I've also seen the copycat devices on Amazon. I would definitely be skeptical of buying something at ~90% discount =)
