AmafanI have the Wolf Designs 456202 Viceroy Collection Module 2.7 Double Watch Winder with Cover and Storage from amazon and it's pretty quiet.Only makes a little noise, and when i closed the glass door it is basically dead silence, and i can keep it at bedside and still sleep well. However i do think this model don't have a glass door.
Personally i was happy about it except one thing that I don't think it is properly magnetic sealed, when i placed my watches on it ,my watches tend to run fast than it should,a +5s/day watch will be +10s,a +3s/day watch will be +6s.Otherwise it is pretty good.
And yes,I think it requires different collars for different sizes of watches, someone should contact massdrop about this.I got the large one and it fits most of my watches but requires me to squeeze it quiet a bit....

DeathWatchWatch winders keep the mainspring at it's maximum or extremely close to it's maximum tension, which in turn puts more pressure on the escapement than if you just wore the watch or left it on a table. This in turn makes the watch run faster.
In the case of magnetised movements, the damage to timekeeping would be semi-permanent, in the sense that the change in accuracy would last until you get the watch de-magnetised.

pixllVery often watches run at their optimum pace with maximum tension. They'll run faster at the end of the mainspring power.
A lot of the variation comes from the positioning and if the watch was regulated to the same position as the winder.
