Sorry... seeing posts where people were able to find the double for $90, and this drop it's $230?! How is this any kind of deal?

ECKSTERSo... someone found it for $90 at a brick and mortar outlet, in the middle of New Hampshire. Hardly a deal anyone can replicate. In the same vein, a guy found a vintage JLC watch worth $30K at Goodwill for $10, how is ANYTHING you're buying a good deal? Durr

jaeun87Pretty dumb example. A couple of people found that price on a new item in a bricks and mortar location. This isn't a used item that the seller didn't know the cost of. Even if those locations were selling below cost (tough when you have overhead costs associated with bricks and mortar, vs. online offerings like here), there's still a massive difference in price. But if you really believe this is a great deal (vs. just shilling for the site or manufacturer), why don't you buy a few dozen... you can resell em...

ECKSTERA couple? I'm not sure where the other comments went, but there was only maybe one. One person. That makes it extremely YMMV for most people. So yeah, you can't compare that to a deal for something you can readily buy online.
Do you want another example? Walmart had the Apple Watch (series 1) at clearance prices ($79) for a few days in a few select locations, in very limited stock, VERY YMMV. Does that mean that if Target sells it for $150 as part of a sale, that is not a good deal? (regular price $269, frequently discounted to $200). Absolutely not, it is most definitely a good deal because $150 is 25% cheaper than what the usual sale price on a good day.
I will actually buy one for myself, but this is not a crazy enough deal for me to try to resell a dozen of them. I never said it was a crazy deal, but it is a good deal overall seeing how I can't get this for less than $300 on a regular day. If you don't want one, that's your prerogative, but don't go around misleading people, making them they can buy a double winder for $90 if they just pop by an outlet store, because that is absolutely not true.

jaeun87MSRPs are pretty irrelevant, especially given the business model here. While $90 might not be a good example either, suggesting that getting something here at what might be a typical discounted price seems to be missing the point. The examples you gave all reference sales prices at bricks and mortar locations. That's not the business model we're talking about, so I'll hold a higher standard. With this site we're taking on additional risk: shipping costs/issues, problems with returns, delivery timelines (a family member has been waiting 6 weeks since his watch "shipped"), and most importantly, not actually seeing the item in person before buying. That risk is worth something. So with this site we buypass a large number of cost adding elements of the value chain and order minimum quantity direct from suppliers. There's no reason to think we shouldn't be getting the best possible discount. Anything comparable to available sales doesn't recognize the risks associated with purchasing in this way or benefits of going "direct".

ECKSTERSo you're just choosing to completely ignore the analogy I presented because it didn't fit your "narrative". That's great. Replace "Target" with whatever online retailer of your choice, it doesn't make a damn difference.
Show me where I can get this double winder for less than $230 anywhere online, or even remotely close that I could go and purchase in the foreseeable future, and I will concede that it's overpriced at MD.
If you can, PLEASE ILLUMINATE ALL OF US, so all of us in this discussion thread can go and buy one there instead. If not, get lost, you're wasting space.
P.S. just to address some of your "concerns" about the business model. The only risk, is that the sales are final, and delivery takes a bit long. All your other points are inherent risk of online shopping, so you're just making excuses at this point.

jaeun87I don't have any concerns with the model, I'm just stating what it is since you seem to be challenged in understanding it. It's not quite the same as other online, but its ok if you choose to be obtuse. Other people have found the item cheaper. Some stuff on MD is great, other stuff shouldn't be up here. You just sound like a shill... trying to make people think this is a great deal when it's not. You have every right to go on shilling, but equally, I have a right to voice displeasure when the deals aren't what I think they should be.
PS I'm not suggesting it's "overpriced", just that it's not a particularly good deal. You go on and on defending this deal, then admit that it's not a great one (and the stuff here should be). So who's really the one wasting space? But by all means, keep up the shilling...

ECKSTERStill waiting for you to show us a better or comparable price to this deal. Guess since you can't, now it's time to attack me as a person by calling me a shill. Good stuff. Have fun being a pain in the ass somewhere else.
This deal is cheaper than what you can find elsewhere, therefore, it is a good deal, end of discussion.
