Not sure about the idea of these cases. Sure they are crush resistant but cigars are living entities that like to breathe. Cedar lined humidors and leather cases seem to be more appropriate for cigars. The carbon fiber case is more like a sealed coffin. Trapped moisture can fester into mold. I would like to see how cigars perform versus mold in a one of these.

oldgearheadAgreed but this shouldnt be for keeping for a long period of time, at the end you still need a proper humidor for any aging benefits.

oldgearheadSurely not. If you were a cigar amatoir you would know first the purpose of a case is to travel with your cigar in good condition, not to store it. Then leather is not recommended for a case except for very short travel since it can alter the taste, and even in such case it is not the best option. There is absolutely no "moisture that can fester into mold", this is a fantasy unless your cigar is wet. What is sealed is not always a coffin, by the way humidors are sealed. Moreover, mold can come into humidors as well, as it can come on a free cigar, not protected by anything. Cigars are not living entities, they are organic and noble products, yet they are not living. And they would not "breathe" more in a humidor than in a case. The purpose of a humidor is not to "age" a cigar, it is simply to store it at the right humidity, otherwise taste vanishes and it can be forever. One of the benefits of a cigar travel case is to avoid your cigar to crush, yes, but a cigar is not a sugar as is said in french, it is not so fragile, you only have to be a little bit careful. The main benefit of a travel case is to avoid your cigar to dry, it is the purpose of the seal, and it is why a good cigar case should be sealed.

Foxyfwiw, i bought cubans in montreal that, upon inspection later, had grown white mold or mildew. I have no way of knowing what the shop did to them, but the humidor they were in when i bought looked legit and the hygrometer looked right.
perhaps they were fantasy cigars.
