My first mech, but definitely not the best

This was a good starter keyboard, but I'm glad I've moved beyond it. About a year into having the keyboard, the 7 key developed a problem where it wouldn't reliably register keypresses. Fortunately I had started using other keyboards by that point.

Lacking instructions make it not beginner friendly, but wins on price and build quality

I would give this board 4 stars if it came with clear instructions or even documentation to indicate what board it is. I figured out it was an Idobo board after 30 minutes of Googling and then proceeded to have a grand time flashing and getting it to match my Ergodox EZ. I would give it 5 stars if it had documentation and the board didn't flex significantly when under much pressure. Nothing is perfect, but the rest of the board is built like a tank so this small design flaw seems like a bigger oversight than it actually is. Overall, I'd buy again but would recommend beginners stay clear unless they want the feeling of distain and rage that comes with figuring this thing out.

Room for improvement

I didn't experience the last round but I get the picture that build quality has improved here. Even so, it could use a few things. The reset button is inaccessible unless disassembled. The reset function seems needlessly difficult and won't flash in a normal manner. I'm not sure why it has underglow lighting in an opaque case.

Very sloppy management of this drop

Why did I have to dig through the discussion section to find the name for this board IDOBO?
Why this board is not flashed with the layout we see in those pictures?
Why we don't have a layout in QMK repo matching these pictures?
No instructions or the keymap print out, especially since it doesn't match drop pictures.

Looks and feels like a tank until you start pushing on those buttons real hard since PCB is lacking proper support, especially at the top right. Not something you'll notice typing though. The case looks flawless, I really don't care about the lack of the reset button hole since you can always have it on one of your layers. I also understood "optional keys" to be "in addition to" rather than an "option to have". I've now realized what's interesting about the way this website works is that it neuters the review process. The orders are reviewed after everybody gets their special product and sales are over. The other thing that sucks is that the keys don't have any resistance or click at all. I chose based on the descriptions provided by the vendor. I wanted this keyboard to be plug-and-play but it's cool, I'll just put it into a yard sale in 10 years. Email me if you want mine.

A lot of potential for the price, for a niche audience

I can confirm the corner flex from the pub/plate that others are describing. I really thought I could get into an ortholinear layout, and perhaps at some point I will, but the error rate at first is so high as to be deeply frustrating without the benefit to being something like a split deck/ergo keyboard. Note to others with the board, getting those two screws in is a pain, even with a magnetic screwdriver of the right size. The best way I could find was to hang both of the screws on the PCB and then lower it in slowly, seating the screws with your screwdriver without allowing them to flip as they so desperately want to do. The real problem here is that in order to flash it, you need access to the reset switch for which there is no hole on the case... May need to correct that if I use this board as a video editing macro or other macro board at some point. Also note: the board will not power on or will not stay powered on if the PCB is not in the plate- something to do with getting the right distance for the USB C cable in at just the right distance. This compounds the issue with pushing the reset button since you have to angle up one side carefully and bend in to spot where the button is while you have your QMK toolbox open to flash it. At the end of the day, I would only recommend this board if you need a giant macro board that is not a stream deck. Maybe once I get used to it that will change. Wanted a compact board with a numpad, thought this would be half the price for same features as a vortex tab 90 or something like the nym.

JanFrJan, If you wait a while there will be something that pops up Massdrop ( like we are not used to waiting on Massdrop?). So there was one just a couple of weeks ago that I ordered from. But I also found "XD75" to be a good search term and I ordered from here https://kbdfans.cn/products/big-bang-mda-profile-ortholinear-keycaps They actually arrived within a week. But I've procrastinated putting them on because I'm not sure what goes where. And frankly support wasn't helpful.

I did hesitate before giving 4 stars and not 5. As other people said better than I could ever do, when you put some keycaps and try to remove them later on, the pcb and top plate are bowing and flexing oddly. Can't be 5 stars. Very close to a good keyboard but still perfectible.

The Board functions just fine, but it has a very poor design. I can foresee the mounting points becoming a problem. There's only a couple and it leads to the pcb and top plate bowing and flexing oddly.
