Is anybody else experiencing noticeable distortion past the 12 o'clock position of the volume knob in (busy) music (like Deorro - Five More Hours? There is no doubt there is a wider sound stage, and many more details present compared to the 3.5mm jack of my Note 5, but it seems there is very little additional volume past the 12 o'clock, and really just more distortion (though it doesn't get completely out of hand). I've been switching back and forth between the stock 12AU7 and a Mullard from upscaleaudio, and the distortion is present either way. Disclaimer - I am not an audiophile, and this is my first 'tube anything'. Cans are AKG 712. Have a few hours on the Mullards, and less than 20 minutes on the stock 12AU7. Honestly isn't very satisfying at anything 12'oclock and under (might as well have the AKG plugged into the Note 5), and this makes it a paper weight for me.

danclinIt depends on your headphones I think. My B&W P3 seem fine but my HiFiman H400s definitely need more power than the unit can provide. I do get the same issue where there's no appreciable gain past the 12 o'clock and distortion - very disappointing.
