LeononononNo articles on fact units or fake parts. Probably just a bad production unit. But I am curious ... What happened exactly so the rest of us know....?

Justin_1Working fine at 1st hour, 2nd hour only have sound of the left, 3rd hour lost both side of sound.
Unplug power and let it run on battery, works fine on both side, playing it for a while no issue. Plug it in for recharging while playing some music, started to having some weird issue.
Conclusion: 1. PC setting problems. Where i got no way to figure out. Get a Schiit stack instead for desktop amp. 2. When the battery is full, plug in both power and usb-in can cause issues.
My Advice: It can be use for portable DAC/AMP, not desktop DAC/AMP due to complicated setup to run on desktop and weird hardware behavior on desktop.

LeononononFYI, the FiiO E17k ($99) can be used as both a stationary and portable DAC.
When the E17k is on it has a blue LED, whereas it lights red-blue while charging, and ceases charging when the battery is fully charged. When stationary, I use my phone with an OTG cable to a Signstek HIFI USB to the FiiO's COAX-in.
Additional Hardware: 1) Signstek HIFI USB to Coaxial S/PDIF Converter Decoder : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FEDHHKE/ -- No drivers required with Windows 10 (USB Audio out) to the Signstek.
2) OTG USB 2.0 Y cable : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V81L9M8/
EXTRA NOTE: If you get static through your headphones or speakers when powering Audio devices via USB (hub, power bars, etc), then switch to a standalone phone USB port/outlet, which appears to filter the line and removes the static.

Justin_1I also got one from Amazon, new and no vendor tampering. The usb on the DAC is a joke and other people have commented on it. After installing the drivers I spent almost an hour trying to get my pc to recognize it before realizing the usb connection was not snug. Fiddling with it will get my pc to recognize as the "link" light on the DAC comes on. Problem is it will almost immediately disconnects again within seconds making impossible to use it at all. I substituted the cable with one I already had at home, same problem. I was so pissed off that I packed it up and returned it, making me lose money in the process. As I live in the Caribbean I had to import it and already paid customs fee on it. Also my anticipation and joy was just shattered by their poor QC. I know I could have been unlucky to catch a defective unit, nonetheless this is my second Chinese product (within a year) that had a problem from the get go. It will take a really wonderful product for me to risk any Chinese electronic again.

kayodropFrom my wanderings around online, for some reason the XDuoo's seem to be more favored than FiiO... so while anecdotal only - I've not been disappointed by FiiO in any way shape or form. Support is great. Quality devices at a more than reasonable price (if you don't count the X1 2nd-gen problematic wheel).
Whereas my experience with XDuoo is crap crap crap. The XQ-10 isn't worth 10 bucks - the most expensive part of the XQ-10 is probably the aluminum case.
