sirkuttinI am planning an upgrade with the Burson opamp but I'm unclear whether I need a pair of them or a single dual opamp (One physical chip). Can you tell me which specific product is needed?

LimboThanks for the responses guys. My impatience won out and I ordered one based on a solid guess. I got it right and I'm now evaluating the result. Haven't listened long enough to formulate an opinion but it does sound good.

I did this comparison mostly with the Fostex Ebonies with Brainwavs Pleather Angle pads. These pad, compared to stock, open up the soundstage but allow some peaky treble through.
The most noticeable difference to start was Burson takes off a little of the harshness but also makes the sounds a little fuller. When I do the A/B I feel like the added fullness is too much for the Fostex Ebony. But when just using the burson for a while i don't really notice the fullness muchh as a negative. Burson sound stage is wider but instrument separation is a little less.
Really that is the long and short of it. If you prefer warmth go with the Burson. I'm not sure if the upgrade is worth the price for most but to each their own. I will definitely keep the Burson because my Ebonies with the pad change benefits from the harshness removal.
Burson caveat: The low and mid gain are louder. High gain no longer works. Switching to it shuts the thing off. But you still get the same loudness in mid gain. However, with very sensitive IEMs you will now have to make sure your source volume is turned down. since low gain is not as low of a gain as before.
