rs882215That's a microcontroller soldering issue. We hit this one in pre-production and I gave the factory a detailed test plan to make sure they didn't hit it again. (If it's just one key it can be local to the key switch, but if it's adjacent keys along a row it's likely the controller.) When you hit 6 do you also see 7?
The solution to this is to reflow the microcontroller. This means taking a fine tip soldering iron and heating up every pad until it melts then letting it cool again, The iron needs to be clean and you need to make sure after the fact that you haven't bridged any connections.
This isn't for everyone, so, contact Massdrop support to see if they can send you another unit. DilbertProgrammer's board had this exact issue and I fixed it in five minutes.
I'll add this to my growing list of concerns. I may need to buy a plane ticket to China next time to get all of this sorted out!

XMITTo answer your question regarding the 6 to 7 yes it does the same thing. Personally, I do not have a sodering iron to work on the board myself. I have emailed mass drop regarding this issue and I received a email that it will be reviewed. I love the 61 key board. I do not know what else to do in regards to that issue.

rs882215Okay! Can you please mention in your Massdrop ticket that you were talking directly with XMIT about the issue, and copy-paste this thread? They will probably ask you to send your board in. We can see about getting you a replacement unit if one is available, or performing a repair.
If you have any friends with soldering skills who owe you a favor now might be a time to call in said favor. :P I don't know where you're located but I'll be at the Austin, TX keyboard meetup this Saturday and will likely be at Keycon where I can service the board myself.
Sorry for this issue, I know how frustrating it can be! One of my earliest prototype boards did this with = and Delete, now that's a problem!

XMITI live in Ohio I will not be able to meet down there of course. I have to wait on a reply regarding the email reply. I am trying to speak to a friend about the issue. He is confused why this has happened. Do you have any more direction on what to do. I use a mac mini for my computer. Just that entire section of keys is acting up.

rs882215I don't have anything more to add beyond what I said earlier, that's pretty authoritative. The root cause is likely an assembly issue, such as not enough solder paste or some tweaks that need to be made to the soldering process. You'll see the same issue on any computer. Let's wait for Massdrop support to get back for next steps. thanks!
