I wanted the PK1 . Anyone know if PK1 has ever been offered on Massdrop? I contacted Massdrop directly and was told chances are low they will offer it but anyone else interested if they do?

MassDropFanI am, but most others probably aren't. Finding people who prefer earbuds of IEMs is rare enough, finding people who are willing to run high impedance earbuds is even more rare.

MassDropFanThey were offered once, but as far as I remember that drop didn't get enough people to be successful. And it's true about reasoning behind this - with such impedance they are mostly usable under 2 scenarios - either you carry carrying additional portable amp with you, or you stay at same place all the time.
In both cases full sized headphones are more preferable in my opinion.
They are just earbuds after all, and they got their limits no matter how good their build quality is. You can't achieve same soundstage and sound with them as you would with headphones, even IEMs. So what's the point of using them with dac+amp if you won't hear any difference?

GreywindYou can use them directly with the fiio X3 that was offered, without an amp.
I'm sure they won't sound as good as most IEMs but some people, me, can't comfortably wear IEMs and have them stay in :[.

arashbYes, I totally agree on point of IEMs, it's my problem as well, can't wear them for long and they are not too comfortable for me. And excess of isolation makes your life more dangerous as a pedestrian. Actually I was considering PK1 myself for some time.
But in the end I decided much higher impedance (making them highly impractical) outweighs extra sound quality (and it's quite debatable anyway). I couldn't find any proper tests that clearly state that PK1 has better sound than PK2. To be fair - I highly doubt that it's the case, and sound difference should be pretty much insignificant for most people in casual circumstances.
PK2 as good as it gets in terms of earbuds in my opinion. I've tried dozens of earbuds - brands and Chinese no-name stuff - all of them sounding like a tin can. BUT the thing I don't really enjoy - I hear hissing when I use them with Sansa Clip (Rockbox). That's quite annoying, but mostly curable by ramping up volume a little bit and turning display off (CPU noise I guess).

GreywindGreywind, Are you stating that IEMs have larger soundstage then ear buds? That is counter intuitive to me. I'd assume ear buds with a bit more distance/space from the ear drum would actually have larger soundstage.

GreywindSoundstage, given a decent bass and treble response, is mostly compromised by colorations. Get a good parametric equalizer and these earbuds can have a great soundstage.

dalethornIn my experience with sound coloration(which is more often oscillovariation than an unequal Fankel Gain), you're way more likely to fix the problem with a hadronic fluxer than a plain equalizer. The price bump is steep, but the parametric equalizer is gonna leave you wanting in a few months anyway, so you might as well take the plunge and sort out your Menger waves, get an accurate read on inturbation, and vectoral momentum while you're at it.
I guess I can see why you might not want to recommend it to a beginner, though.

aeolianbrassGiven that I've used a parametric eq on 99 headphones so far (on my dalethorn website and reviews on several sites), and gotten extremely good results, I'd say the fix is golden.

Totally agree with you. Yuins are great, and have been my go-tos for years. Also, check out the Blue Ever Blues on here once in awhile, and Edifier P180 (not available on Massdrop).
