Don't do it. No electric skateboard is going to satisfy what it should. They're all made by the hoverboard people, so same issues arise. I own a shop. They come in all the time, broken. Including Boosted.

Scott32457well of course you think they all break, you only see the broken ones. I own 2 electric boards, have owned 2 others and have parts coming for a DIY board. never once have I had one fail. And living in Florida, its not exactly like I have a lot of hills around to get a lot of speed any other way. The Yuneec was my first board and is a solid starter board, one of the more reliable options in the sub $600 range.

6 month warranty? Isn't the standard 1 year?

vongMost electric boards have 6 month warranty - even Boosted. Mellow has 2 year warranty.

Is there a way to put more all-terrain-y wheels on this? Pavement is not the smoothest in the cities I go to/live.

My bad on that, didn’t notice that. I’ve seen a few that have different assemblies, and allow for more options.

So guess I was one of the (un)lucky people who got a lemon, board will not charge and visible sparking when plugging in the charger.

Ok so I'm new to mass drop and I'm probably going to ppurchase this board. What does it mean by 5 people needed for lowest price. Does it mean if 5 or more purchase it, it will be 299...

Theenashkit means that if you join (you will be the 5th person to join as of now), then the drop will happen. If only 4 people join by the time the drop ends, nobody gets anything. The price on this drop is already it's lowest.

Adding a few pictures to supplement my comment below. Taking the battery compartment apart does not void the warranty. The online manual downloaded from Yuneec shows you a complete repair/replace component breakdown when you need to replace parts. The ECU keeps beeping to warn of a fault. When I took the battery compartment apart, the plastic wrap around the LiPo batteries is starting to melt. Put my temp probe on it. Anywhere else on the battery, and the temp is 71° F to 74° F (room temp). The area where the plastic is melting is 132° F and rising. The last picture shows the melting, which I read online that this type plastic wrap will start to melt at 165° F. You can also see the solder on the fourth chip is starting to blot.
If you bought one of these, I would highly caution you to keep it close when charging. I felt heat on the outside of the battery compartment. LiPo batteries should only be warm when they are being used/discharged. Not when charging. If it's warm on the outside of the battery compartment, that means it's very hot on the inside. It's easy to remove the battery compartment. I would check to see if there is any melting.
Waiting to hear from Massdrop if they'll replace, or if I'll have to file with Yuneec.

I should probably check my board when I get home . haven't taken it out of the box yet, but these reports don't sound good. Will give an update later.

lobsterOk I opened mine up and rode it around. Fortunately mine seems to work fine. I have an E-go 1 and it has functioned fine for two years. The E-go 2 appears to have all the same components in a shorter more nimble package, and there are some subtle improvements. I think you have to consider the price when purchasing this--you are not getting a boost board for $1500. For 300 i don't see anything really closely competing with this board for what it offers and the quality. Again, there very well may be more lemons at this price range, but I have ridden my e go 1 for hours and recharged it weekly over 2 years with no melting, fires, over heating or dead electronics. I hope the e go 2 I just got on this drop (for much less than I paid for the e go 1) will give the same reliable service. I no longer even ride regular long-boards with the convenience of brush-less electric power and braking.
