So, it's ~20:00 on a Wednesday night. I haven't slept in about 60 hours, and I have to work tomorrow. Yet, here I am, at my computer playing through my favorite albums.
These headphones are downright excellent - they're not the most comfortable I've worn, nor the most accurate, nor the prettiest I've seen, certainly not the lightest - but I'll be damned if they aren't the most satisfying I've listened to. No matter what I throw at them, it just works out wonderfully. That's $300 very well spent, if you ask me. (V2, for the record)

That makes me very happy to hear. =) Thank you!
Glad they are arriving for everyone. If anyone hasn't gotten their headphones yet - and wants tracking please email me at zmfheadphones@gmail.com
Thanks again for checking these out guys! =)
Hey Guys - All ZMF Master Model V1's shipped out last week, and all V2's are shipping out tomorrow. Thanks for your patience!

Any shipping estimates/tracking numbers for continental US?
EDIT: just 10 minutes later, I got it delivered to my door. Can't wait to try it!

Wow, today was like late Christmas! What a pleasant surprise! Listening to them now and loving how comfy they are. Running a couple songs through them right now. The psytrance thump is so real. Thanks so much, Zach!
Is there any update o the drop as its getting close now to the ship date?
These headphones are awesome. The fit and isolation are great. They are a bit dark but have a great balance. Those pads actually feel better at times than the alpha pads as well.
Nepheshdust
I was contemplating getting alpha pads for these. Do they make much of a difference sound or comfort wise vs these default pads?
nwgnp
I actually prefer the standard pads to the alpha pads comfort wise. Sound wise I am sure the alpha pads increase the soundstage somewhat artificially but you may prefer them. Zach used to have a description of pads on his website. He may be able to chime in on sound differences.
Yep, it has top and bottom foam.
Does the Seahorse case have foam in it?
I absolutely love my Vibros. My only small complaint is that they are a little heavy, but that didn't stop me from listening to them non-stop on a 5 and half hour flight across the country. Zach/ZMF is also great to deal with.
I have the ZMF v1 and they are awesome, I was changing headphones every 6 months until I got these and they've lasted me 2 years and my upgradeitis hasn't come back. v1 has plenty of bass for me, I listen to dubstep all the time with them
Unfortunate we can't have some type of custom colors deal, would have been totally excited! Maybe next time :)
What colour is this one shipping in?
Tiddlesworth
It comes as pictured, with the Carbon panels.
ZMFheadphones
I see, thank you very much, the color suits my tastes.
Anyone have comparisons between these and the Mad Dogs or Pros? Also the pilot pad vs the leather pad?
I switched to different heat shrink and bought a better heat gun for a more professional look. I realized the same thing shortly after this cable was sent out. =)
If concerned about the look of the Canare cable just message me after your purchase through the website that you'd like to upgrade to the OCC Braided Cable. It would be $49 for the upgrade which will be invoiced through paypal after the drop.
Wondering why the cable looks diy with the bad heat shrink around the cable split point.
For those interested, here a Reddit AMA (ask me anything) about the ZMF headphones and this drop. I'll be monitoring it through today.

Just added to my website to help clarify between V1 and V2:
For those trying to choose between which version, The V1 and V2 are more alike than they are different. The V2 does not include a "hump" in the lower frequencies, and the V1 doesn't have a spike in the treble. The ZMF's are tuned with a linear smooth frequency response that is never offensive and always natural. Furthermore the V1 is not anemic sounding, and the V2 is not a bass monster, they are both tastefully tuned for audiophiles. The bass version's "boost" starts in the mids and slopes down into the sub-bass with 2-3 more DB of bass response. The V2 is driven more easily, and is recommended when not using a dedicated headphone amp.

Is the Army Green color still available, like on the ones in the product photos on the Master Model order page? I can't see an option to select it for order on your page.
Taesh
Those were a custom painted set (available on the website). For timely delivery we are not offering painted sets for MassDrop, as those take longer to complete.
(Also, would it be possible for me to commit now, and be able to later amend my choice of which model of headphone to get?)
Tze088
As long as it's before it ships out from us that would be fine. Just message me through ZMFheadphones.com after the drop. We are shipping straight from Chicago, not from the MassDrop HQ so any/all changes can be made after the drop.

Thanks very much!
I have a set of ZMF Master model V1 that I got about a month ago. I am thoroughly enjoying them and considering getting a second set in this drop to use as portables. They sound great and provide good isolation from environmental noise. They even work well even when being driven by my Sansa Fuze or LG G-Tab 8.3. Even though they won't play LOUD with these low power sources they are loud enough that I have to turn them down a bit with almost all music.
For those who have concerns about the leather strap, I find it to be very comfortable and see no reason to get the Pilot Pad unless you are concerned about the aesthetics.
To those who are asking for the Mad Dogs, just get the ZMF version 2 which I expect to have a very similar sound signature but I have a very hard time seeing how the Mad Dogs could be better.
For the price, I think that the ZMFs are incredible. I do need to take them to the local Audeze retailer for comparison with headphones that cost five or six times as much. I suspect that they are not too far off but do expect the LCD-XC to be a bit better. As is, I am very happy with my ZMFs and do not feel any compulsion to upgrade at this time.
J.P.
^ A cellphone won't be able to drive these very well... I would recommend an amp for headphones like these.
Also - Can anyone give a comparison of the current version of the V1 and V2s? I am not quite sure what to get. I am going to get these to replace my current pair of srh940's that is breaking, instead of having to pay to repair them.
How easy is it to drive these? Will a cell phone do?
Just wanted to say that I own one of the earlier ZMFs, and I can't recommend them enough! Happy to see them on Massdrop. And Zach, thank you for the hours of musical enjoyment :)
I borrowed a Mad Dog and ZMF for a week, and found them very comparable, with the Mad Dog being warmer and a little bassier. So maybe version 2 here is more like that Mad Dog. Both headphones were audiophile quality, based on my experience with the Senn HD800, Beyer T1 and T90, AKG 812 and 712, so for the money the ZMF is a steal.
Are these closed back? I would be looking to use them at work, wondering how much sound leakage I can expect.
AlbertWu
The ZMF's are closed, they do have a small open "port" but the only time when I have heard leakage is when used to brain shattering levels. Many people own them and use them in an office or work environment. They would work fine in the library too!
How does Double Helix OCC Litz Copper rewire sound compared to ALO Cryo Silver?
msxmsx
We only offer DHC OCC Litz Copper currently for the internal/driver rewire as it is the most neutral and color free wire we have used. The ALO wire is very good, but has that slight silver "shininess" when compared the the TOTL DHC Copper Litz wire. I would expect the same to hold true when used for a full headphone cable as well. One note, the ALO wire is OCC, but not litz AFAIK.
Still waiting for Mad Dogs!!!
God dammit, been wanting to buy one of these forever but sadly lost my job this week... this is just the nail in the coffin.
Really happy to see this drop. I'm even more interested in possibly seeing the ZMF Blackwood or ZMF Vibro on here too!
.
Ooh, another Fostex-based headphone. How does this compare to the Mad Dog?
Hey Guys, ZMF here, the MSRP is $299 without a cable which is shown on the ZMF website, and $349.99 with a cable. You just have to adjust the options on our website to see the change in price, as the lowest/starting price is shown on the main product page. This "drop" includes the Canare cable so hence the MSRP is $349.99. Sorry for any confusion! We'd be happy to use the Pilot Pad for anyone that wants it instead of the leather band.
ZMFheadphones
I'd like to clarify that my reply wasn't specifically directed at this drop, but Massdrop in general. But thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding.
Will there be an option added to the order page for the pilot pad, or how will it be handled?
Taesh
I'm sure MassDrop can make the adjustment, if not just message me through ZMFheadphones.com and I'll have the change made during production.
