Just my 2c - this is a fun little device. Sure, it's on an old version of Android, but it works and you can use the microSD card or USB flash drive (small flush-fit one is nice so it doesn't stick out) to play movies (I'm using Kodi and VLC). YouTube looks good as well and the little ones think it's magical =) Projecting it from the sofa to a 12ft ceiling seems to be about the same size as my 60" TV and at night, with lights off, the Medium brightness setting is just fine and keeps the fan from going full blast. It's nice to use it with a small tabletop tripod. Some people have used it with a Joby-style flexible one, but the ones I tried weren't strong enough since it's pretty dense/heavy. I'm using a Pedco Ultrapod II and it works great for horizontal or ceiling viewing.
This is a pretty good price for a new one - I bought a like-new, used one off of eBay (ATT version, but not using as hotspot) for the same price, but most are going for more.
