Lend a hand?
Loving the idea of this knitting community. It seems awful quiet though (as far as drops go, I mean). Is there anything we as members can help to get the ball rolling on amazing yarns, notions, patterns, kits, etc.?

Know your audience
As an experienced crocheter and beginner knitter, I'm just getting over myself that it's called knitting and not yarncraft or something. I think the drops requested in the polls are by and large more what you're talking about and what people would buy: a bunch of yarn, enough to make a specific pattern, but nobody's tying you down with notions and patterns. The problem with the yarns that have been dropped so far, I think, is that there is...

Quilting Mystery Box
I liked both mystery boxes you have offered. The first one was really an incredible deal and still there were loads of complaints, mostly about getting knitting accessories. This second time we knew exactly what to expect, which, in my opinion, removed some of the fun. Still, I was surprised at how many complaints there were. For example, it seemed some buyers didn't like tiny scissors. I happened to get large scissors in my box but I use...

New Year, New Projects!
Not sewing or quilting, but I've got knitting on my mind again! I just knit this fox hood/hat for a family member - started Jan 1 and finished Jan 3 (and yes, that is a roll of paper towels that I'm using as a mannequin head). I'm going to be doing a sweater or shawl soon as soon as soon as I can commit to a pattern!

Wrist Check
Cocktail time! i'm not convinced on this TechnoMarine alligator strap i bought. It's very stiff and also wide due to the way it overlaps to the edge of the lugs rather than sitting inside at 20mm....

Best resources for beginners?
Teach Yourself Visually: Knitting and Sock Knitting are great resources, very similar to the Klutz line for kids- great photography and clear instructions. I also know many folks learned from Debbie Stoller's Stitch & Bitch series, but the patterns are a bit dated, even if they are good basic patterns.

I generally like to feel little in the pocket, but have capabilities. I usually keep my smartphone (iPhone 8+, like the screen size, power, and battery, but wish it was smaller in-pocket) in a...

Lend a hand?
A pretty major problem is that it's the start of festival season- many vendors may not have time to add a new wholesale account, much less dye up yarns (for indie dyers). A good compromise might be to check Ravelry's trending patterns and the yarns used there- or contacting a designer and getting their ear for a bit. I think thay that there are some good things that could be down the line- the Blue Sky Alpacas buys were great! But we also...

ColorWul Yarn by Patons
Yes, you can definitely use this yarn to make a blanket. I would suggest to search on www.ravelry.com for a queen size blanket pattern you that uses bulky weight yarn, then divide the yardage required by the 90 yards per skein in this product. Personally, I usually buy an extra skein to accommodate for any unforeseen mistakes or disasters (I'm fairly new to knitting and have three cats who love "helping").
