Classic Board Games?

Hi Board Games Community - excited to see this community launch! Got me thinking of board games I loved as a kid, and actually continue to love today. For me, the standard was always Monopoly... always wanted to be the car and definitely was all about being the banker. Had the original set and then supplemented with the specific sets based on theme or location. What about you?

Man, I might be a weirdo but one of my favorites is trivial pursuit. I'm a french canadian and we had the genus edition in french with questions related about the world but a bit about canada and québec and seriously, it was the best for us. Bought a few editions in french after but it was never the same, they were done in france so REALLY focused on france stuff... not as fun.

I always liked Clue, Risk and Life but my favorite games from my childhood were Axis & Allies, Dungeon! and Talisman. For me, my brother was so ruthless that Monopoly lost it's fun. I do, however, really like what they have done with Monopoly Gamer. Great spin on the game with player abilities and a built in timer.

Although, Acquire is my all-time favorite game, Monopoly will always the one I consider to be my classic game. Every child in my family learned their math and money from Monopoly. Before we went to school, we knew how to count money, make change, and add and subtract because my family played Monopoly.

MCI1983Acquire is a classic, I love that game. It's the game the parents always played after they put us cousins to bed.

Monopoly still is a great game I love to play. I have bought it for all the gaming systems I have had that offered it. If I had money for every game of it I have played in my lifetime, I could buy Boardwalk and Park Place a million times over.
