best 60% keyboard for gaming

more_vert
Does anyone have any recommendations for some of the best 60% mech keyboard for everyday use and competitive gaming. I have a huge g.skill keyboard and I hate it. It has brown switches and im not really the biggest fan of them i want something more clicky but not to loud. And Im really loooking for rgb and my max for budget would be around $150. oh yeah cherry switches too...

I was looking around earlier on today for a 60% keyboard, and came across this list. Not exactly huge, but when there's three on a best of list, I would prefer that to a list with 10 on them!

This is a 60% I just put together, and I really like the build quality. KBD Tofu Aluminium case, gk64pcb, brass top plate, and Hako Royal Clears. This set up was about $200, but there is lots of room to cut back. This pcb is hot swap so you can put in new switches easily. You could easily do similar for around $150, with a more basic case and top plate. Honestly, cherry switches are overpriced, but as it is a 60%, you don't need a lot. You can find equivalent or better versions of any cherry switch out there.

Best keyboard or switch for gaming is a very personal decision. I've an armada of mks with different switches, but never had the feeling one of them makes me better at gaming, maybe i'm not good enough or care enough about that. Easy programming and a bunch of layers ... are more important for me. My favourite 60% for (MMO) gaming: https://ultimatehackingkeyboard.com/

MakamiThat looks fun! What kind of things can the lil display show? As far as switches for gamming, there are some differences that can make a difference, but only if you are a serious gammer. Clicky switches for example, has hysteresis that makes it harder to double tap a key. Linear on the other hand, can make you accidently activate a switch. What I like is hotswappable pcbs so that you can try out a bunch of switches.
MakamiCouldn't agree more. I have so many keyboards and never once have I though "huh, that really helped my game!"

I wouldn't get hung up on cherry switches. Now that their patent has expired there are a lot of equally good options out there, and if you are looking for something low profile (which I prefer for most tasks) there are not a lot of cherry based options out there.
fhoodA lot of people like retooled blacks but there isn't much conversation about their other switches. I prefer both Gateron and Kailh o er cherry
Just because something is advertised as "gaming" doesn't make it better for the job. Most keyboard switches are the same. The stem pushes the metal leaf together and it actuates. A popular and cheap 60% is the Anne pro and the Anne pro 2.

Honestly, you should read up on switches. Also, someone mentioned switch testers, and I would suggest this too! Also, keyboards don't really have latency, but switches themselves vary in activation speed. You should check out novelkeys, they have tons of cool switches and testers.
