My specific example will be super high-end expensive power cables. Yes, power cables.
I'm not sure how someone can claim to hear a difference when the wire in the their wall is the cheapest it can possibly be while still meeting code requirements.

iamlilysdadBy the same token, I finally conceded to believing that copper is copper and no, $100 speaker cables will not make an audible difference to my listening experience.
I currently have some cheap-o 12AWG speaker cable I bought from Monoprice that I'm using with my ELAC BS244's and I'm perfectly happy.
The gentleman I purchased them from had a Luxman 505u that we powered the BSs' with, using his own Audioquest cables. I then hooked them up using my Monoprice cables. Absolutely no discernible difference to my ears (I'm still young) in the exact same room, with the same interconnects and same source material.
As long as the copper is decent quality and the cable run isn't too long, I recommend my friends the same cheap cables like I do HDMI cables.

VecinuI tend to agree. Especially if you're using balanced in/out to feed the signal. With unbalanced the shielding and how you run the cables tends to be more important then anything else.
