Headphone DAC/AMP

Headphone DAC/AMP: Guys, I bought a Xduoo XD-05 DAC/AMP and it drives my Ultrasone Sig Pro's and Senn Momentum 2's just fine, but not my Senn 6xx that I got from Massdrop, not at all. Other than spending $800.00 on the Marantz HD DAC 1, is there a DAC/AMP combo on Massdrop at a good price that will drive just about anything? Looking for a real needle in a haystack, super deal on a sleeper that works wonders. Please advise and thanks!!!!

A pragmatic "deal" solution to your 6XX power issue, in a combo DAC/amp, get a cable - go "balanced", DSD supported (I'm in proponent camp;) listed at $569 on Amazon, recently dropped here on MD. I have only used Aune T1's (another choice- tube buffer) but can attest to the decent quality/performance, you did say "deal" $364.99 shipped: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Aune-S6-32Bit-384-DSD-DAC-Headphone-Amplifier-New-Sealed/312222285906?epid=17015467934&hash=item48b1e60052:g:XNcAAOSwhE9bffxk:rk:37:pf:0 MD link: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/aune-s7-balanced-headphone-amp Or Audio-gd NFB-11.28, has power: http://www.audio-gd.com/Pro/Headphoneamp/NFN1128/NFB1128EN.htm Talk: https://www.massdrop.com/search/nfb-11.28/talk?filter=comments&communityId=1 Or the R-2R sound: http://www.audio-gd.com/R2R/R2R11/R2R11EN.htm Choices...: "Sound quality differencies between R2R 11 and NFB-11:
The differencies between those units are only in tonal quaities            NFB-11 sound is detail, dynamic, controled but not bright or hash.            R2R 11 has Smooth, coherent and analoguesound quality and has no emphasise on any frequencies in audio spectrum           E.g : You can image the NFB11.28 is like a highly defined digital photo but the R2R 11 is more like real oil painting.            If you are a new audiophile , you should go for the NFB11.28 over R2R 11, NFB11.28 has modern sound quality may better fit for new audiophile." If you want to go separate, many choices, but a Darkvoice could even be fed from your current XD-05... tube rabbit hole, beware... will drop again on MD... Balanced cable poll, Periapt = Pragmatic,, they say Proficient;) https://www.massdrop.com/vote/Aftermarket-Balanced-Cable-for-the-Sennheiser-HD-650

I am not sure because I don't have that DAC/AMP but could it be because the sig pro is 32 ohm and the 6xx is 300 ohm? I have yet to run into any situation where my 6xx will not play at all but I can tell you that I have to connect it to something that can push it properly because if not then it just sounds very low and horrible. Have you paired it with other DAC/AMPs? Have you been able to eliminate the headphones themselves as being the problem?
Drive anything to me means inefficient planars and I don't see an amp/dac driving inefficient planars for 800 bucks. The cayin iHA-6 will drive just about anything on the planet so long as it's balanced capable, but there is no DAC with that and it's 699 new. The HD650/6xx also isn't as difficult as some make it out to be, the massdrop O2 is sufficiently powered as is the every popular Magni 3. Edit: The Audeze Deckard almost fits the bill for "drive anything amp/dac" but it's out of stock everywhere and might be discontinued.
