I used to have a 500 song playlist for this type of thing but some of the highlights:
Where Does the Good Go? - Tegan and Sara - bass texture and female vocals Shake It Out (acoustic) - Florence & TM (Ceremonials Deluxe Edition) - female vocals, micro detail Handle This - Basstronics - sub bass extension/distortion Hazey - Glass Animals - sub bass texture Killa Cam - Cam'ron - bass impact (not really a "good" song but dat impact doh...) Tundra - Amber Rubarth - soundstage (headphone only, this one is binaural) Saturday Smile - Gin Wigmore - sibilance and upper mid/treble spikes Girl in the Other Room - Diana Krall - microdetail Welcome Home - Coheed and Cambria - hard rock torture test Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd - specifically Hi-Res version - microdetail and I know this one really, really well. Trains - Porcupine Tree - from the DTS/DVD-Audio, test for surround music panning Wherever I May Roam - Metallica - metal torture test So Many Times... - The Black Crowes - know it well and it checks many boxes on the "test" front Last Place That Love Lives - The Black Crowes - know it well, male vocals, timbre Descending - The Black Crowes - again know it well, solid bass line Mandelgroove - Blue Man Group - surround music and bass impact (DVD-Audio) Synaesthetic - Blue Man Group - same as above Dust to Dust - The Civil Wars - vocal two-fer with a nice bass line Go to Hell - David Ford - male vocals, strings (not a big classical guy so this fills in) Fight Test - The Flaming Lips - surround music from one of the best surround albums of all time Seven Bridges Road - The Eagles - male harmonies Teenage Dream - The Horrible Crowes - live recording/low fidelity recording test - yes that is the lead singer of Gaslight Anthem covering a Katy Perry song... much better than the original Aqueous Transmission - Incubus - sub bass for days with a solid Asian string section Grits - RZA - rap/hip-hop torture test
I could go on for days so I think I will stop rambling here..... :)

ElectronicVicesNever listened to Pink Floyd, the people wearing their t-shirts really put me off, only heard 1 Metallica song, and 2 Eagles songs.

SenorPlatanoPink Floyd has some really good songs, but after Dark Side of the Moon they got really weird (where all the people wear the shirts) until they kicked out the guitarist I believe. I know Alan Parsons did most of their sound recording so it's top notch. The Eagles, probably much like Joe Walsh and Rocky Mountain Way, got a bit dragged down when they made Hotel California and everyone went nuts for it and it continues to this very day...
Metallica though..... pass.

SenorPlatanoIf I let goofball fans prevent enjoyment of good music I would have never listened to Tool. : ) I would venture the vast majority of the T-Shirt wearing fans you mention have zero understanding of the subtext and progressive themes in their albums.
