Really, the best music you can use to test sound equipment is music that you are intimately familiar with and know backwards and forwards.

For me, it's this playlist. Some songs test stereo separation, some test sound stage, and a few test highs, mids, or lows.

xd1936Totally agree with this. I just play music that I love and have listened to hundreds of times. I always play Stricken by Disturbed to take the virginity of my new audio equipment.
The key is being intricately familiar with all the sounds, instruments, and frequencies of the songs, which just comes naturally as you listen to your music many times.
