Has anyone tried Luci Lanterns?

more_vert
Hey guys,
Has anyone tried Luci Lantern? Seems intriguing as a product for UL backpacking: solar powered and lightweight, and seems like a good idea for evening chores, setting up camp after sunset and long winter hikes. Maybe we can get Massdrop to get us a deal on a bunch of them? https://mpowerd.com/products/luci-outdoor-2-0

I have 5 of these, and have given several away to backpacking friends. I have had excellent experience using these as a tent light for looking at maps and writing in a hiking journal. Nice surprise is that I did not need to recharge the Luci during my backpack, though I had planned to put the lantern into a light colored sack and hang it on the top or back of the pack while walking in order to charge it in sunlight. Great product.

I keep getting these as presents. And good thing too. I have a tendency to loose or break them. They are great for doing night time chores, as others have mentioned. They are also wonderful to leave as a beacon to help you find your way back to your campsite at a large campground, or when you find yourself waaaay at the back in a twisty turny campground that you've never seen in daylight.
I did have one stop working on me though. It got stuck on, and wouldn't turn off.

I have the Luci Outdoor and love it. Seems to hold charge great, charge up quickly (for solar), and I've used it more at home than outdoors (power outages or as a reading light in bed).

I see lots of those out and about. Luminaides too. I prefer the frosted plastic of the Luminaid. Good product and business model Luminaid

JerkyKenI love to see a luminad packlite on here. Read great reviews and I'd be interested in knowing if using it as a pillow is actually comfortable

Never tried Luci but I have the Luminaid Spectra color changing lamp. Hang it on your pack during the day to charge. Use the white light when cooking dinner and eating. Then change it to red when you're about to sleep.
