Lets Split a Preonic

more_vert
I'm looking for information on who might have PCBs for a Lets Split Preonic keyboard and thought that here might be a great place to start talking to other people interested this keyboard. Currently I'm using a Planck which is great but coming from an Advantage Kinesis I find the board is cramping my style a bit.
Anyone in the Massdrop world already find a source for the boards?

This is pretty similar to what you want right? https://keeb.io/blogs/news/the-nyquist-keyboard-a-split-60-ortholinear-board Maybe we can bring that to massdrop?

The PCB does have LED support, as you see in the building guide.

currently on the hunt for something similar as well. there seems to be a ton of split 40%s but virtually no split 60-ish% (i'm sorry, but for me, anything smaller than a 5x6 grid would be counter productive)

the extra row on the left side may be a bit strange for me, but I would put keys like delete and enter over there. Have you seen the http://www.typematrix.com? I used that for a couple of years a while ago and got quite use to the idea of using the center for more. ErgoDox does the same thing.
Also, have you seen http://builder.swillkb.com/ which lets you take the layout and turn it into a cad file for getting it cut out? I might do this one day.

jceaseryes. familiar with both. this would be my first delve into an alternate/severely compressed layout. i love my GH60, but i think getting used to all 1u keys would be my biggest hurdle.

As I am currently handwiring one, (and, funny enough, i called mine the same) from fiddling with QMK i can tell you that there is no built-in support for a "Lets Split a Preonic" in there. I am now trying to learn enough C++ to extend wootpatoot's "Let's Split". We are so doomed!

chief_wrenchreally depends on how the 2 halves connect (as chief_wrench mentions) will determine what will be needed in the firmware.
Ergodox uses i2c with port expander on one half, controller on the other & talk to each other over TRRS (only 4 wires) and has been ported to many of the current popular custom firmwares.
worst case, give it a umbilical cord between the two, wired as a normal matrix, no fancy firmware trickery needed.
