Consoles advantage is the price which will likely be less then he gpu alone cost building a gaming pc as well as longevity. Games are tuned to work on a console and since everyone’s console is essentially the same as the console ages new titles will play as well for you as they do for everyone else with that console. The same isn’t true for pc. Game performance will be dictated by the quality of your pc especially your gpu. That being said a good quality gaming pc will out perform a console by a very large margin. Current consoles are limited to 60fps and you could see 4x that on a pc. As well a pc is upgradable though again the cost of upgrading the gpu could and probably will cost more then a whole console. But like the saying goes you get what you pay for. Which you should buy like a lot of things in life will be based on budget and circumstance. If you have the budget to build or buy a pc and peripherals , the room to set it up and are an avid gamer pc is way to go. If you are light on budget, have no room for a pc set up, will be duel purposing your tv or play for a few hours or less a week, then console is probably the prudent choice. And nothing wrong with having both.

SeanWasTakenNo, you can get a Zotac 1050TI for about 175$ which is about more then half price of modern consoles

RasseruI wouldnt consider anything less then a 1070 to be a gaming build. A 1050 benchmarks not much high then a console on games like fortnite. I personally wouldnt consider building a pc for gaming right now with anything less then a 1080 but will likely go 1080ti for my next pc.
RasseruYou really won't get much performance at all out of that card though, I wouldn't consider that card for any gaming PC.

livingspeedbumpI personally had a dog with a 1050TI From zotac and I can run most games at medium to high settings hitting above 60FPS. IMO it’s a great budget card for gaming

SeanWasTakenI love your reply but there are a few mishaps here and there. The consoles can only go upto 30fps which is terrrribbbbbbbbleeeeeeeeee in my opinion. Yes the graphics cards are indeed expensive, but you can get a decent build for around 750 USD while with console you have membership fees along with games being FREAKISHLY expensive for very long periods of time. After awhile of gaming on the PS4 it adds up to be on par with the pricing of a decent PC. There are many more details than this but a lot has been said in other posts already. I do agree with your point that you can own both though. That's what I do :)

SeanWasTakenWoah there bud slow your roll. I have a 1050ti at the moment and it runs all my games GREAT. I get high on most games with around 60-70 FPS but it really depends on the game. Plus my cpu is bottlenecking the heck out of my gpu. I have a ryzen 5 1600x oc'ed to 4ghz. A 1050ti is the perfect budget gpu in my opinon. You can think otherwise but even a 1060 6gb (which are around 200-300 these days) would be a great choice.

RealSimShadyPs4, ps4 pro and the xbox ones all support 60 fps. Whether a game runs at 30 or 60 is decided by the game dev. I never said the 1050 was junk, just not what i consider a gaming build. Save the slow your roll nonsense. This is supposed to be a friendly discussion.

I have a build with a 1050Ti as well in my wifes machine. It is generally quite underwhelming in games to my experience at anything above "medium" settings. Consoles actually go to 60 FPS and out perform this little guy for sure. Can you game with it? Absolutely, but to play most big AAA titles that consoles can spit out at close to 60FPS on "high" settings you need to set graphics at "low" for the 1050Ti. Now, when we play Age of Empires 2 together, we both get about the same performance hahaha. Is the 1050 Ti a good budget option? For sure. But for someone that JUST wanted to game, I'd recommend a console over a 1050 Ti build, but if they wanted all of the additional benefits of a PC and wanted to upgrade (maybe instead of buying a next-gen console) this is a great route to go.

livingspeedbumpAnd I'm pretty sure a $1060 6 GB is a substantial step up from a 1050ti which can be had for less than $200 new.
