Help me decide?

more_vert
So I've been rocking 35mm film and my Minolta x700 as my means to photography. The dilemma is that I want to switch to digital format soon but I'm not sure what camera, under budget $400-650, I should get. Another decision is that I've always wanted to experience VR or virtual reality so if I don't get either a DSLR or mirrorless cam I'm thinking of just blowing my money on the Oculus Go. So I'm in a dilemma of sort..

For a first DSLR camera, I would suggest the Nikon D3400 (I have it), it's cheap ahd produces some quality images (this is one such image) and it's sold with the kit lens included

It's bigger as Marciitto said, but a lot of people prefer to use "wider" instead of bigger to eliminate any possible ambiguity. The 18-55mm kit lens is no joke. It's a very good lens for the price and size. Both the D3000 and D5000 series are very capable entry level cameras, but there's something that both are terrible at. They're terrible manual cameras. You have the option for manual settings, but it's pretty hard to do full manual shooting with only one settings dial. Having to go into a menu to change the aperture or the shutter speed really kills the manual experience.

hyperlinkedWhich is why I either use "Programmed" or the semi modes "shutter or aperture priority"
