Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. This is definitely a work-in-progress still. There are a lot of boards to dig through, of my own and online, trying to find and cover as many keyboards as possible. NOTHING HERE IS FINAL. Kits aren't final, how the kits are split isn't final, and colors aren't final. For those of you not familiar with forum interest checks, this is me telling you to give me your feedback! If you have some keys you'd like to see added please provide images of the boards in question though.
I am still in the process of making sure I can secure a manufacturer with all of these molds, but this will be an OEM profile set more than likely, which also helps keep pricing lower as well.
