I have been using m-50s for many years, and if I had to only use one headphone for both at home and on the road, these are great. They are very durable, pack a good punch of bass (also made a cmoy-bb portable amp for them).
Recently I did purchace a smsl m6 (dac-amp) and the massdrop akg k7xx, and they are better headphones, they are open so leak a ton of nouse, but the sound feels much less forced, the lows especially are not as in your face and really let me enjoy my jazz and classical collection without feeling fatigued like I would with my m50s.
Overall, I think you made a great purchase, as you will always need a pair of easy to drive, durable cans. In the future ypu can invest in a strictly home use set up for musical bliss, maybe sennheiser 650s or the massdrop k7xxs - and not worry about portability or the other factors that surely led to buying the m50's.
