Can something like this be carried on a plane?

more_vert
I'm considering pledging for this to cut on the amount of disposable utensils I am forced to throw in the garbage when traveling (I travel a lot for work).
Does it look like something that could be carried on a plane and that would not be confiscated by security? I know 'round bladed' knives are allowed (like butter knives), but would this somehow qualify as 'almost round' enough to be OK?

Not certain where they originated, possibly one of those "picnic sets".
I have an assortment of nice quality plastic utensils...there's always a spoon in my bags.
I actually prefer the plastic to stainless. We've learned to tune it out, but stainless has a pretty strong "flavor".

Depending on how sharp the pry bar part is, maybe. If it's more like a knife than a pry, then no. And how long overall it is might get it "confiscated" as well.
Honestly, it's better to put this things in checked bags than carry on.
Troy813I dunno.....that spork looks pretty terrorista too.......
No. It has a fork which could be considered a weapon...

It looks like a serrated knife I don't think so you are allowed to take this in plane but don't get panic order knives online from https://chicagoknifeworks.com/ wherever you are going.

Please don't get in the security line in front of me, as I'm usually running late for my flight! You're talking about a Federal "agency" that classified the pop-out key on the Audi / VW key fobs as "switchblades". No shit. On the up side, if you're over 50 and due for your colonoscopy....

Yeah I've had the most harmless utensils either confiscated or questioned. Even the CRKT Eat n Tool spork. The TSA guy demo'd it as a knuckler. Go figure. The only thing that has survived so far is my Shard. Just depends on their mood I think, and I don't have time to argue with their BS.

The somewhat serrated edge on the right side would make it an iffy proposition for me. You might carry it without issue for many flights or you might lose it on your first one. Without a signed waiver from the TSA, I wouldn't risk it. I have a blog post http://dlee.io/tools/2017/03/21/tools-for-travel/ which explains the TSA rules: I'd guess it would run afoul of prohibited knives, only plastic or round bladed butter knives are allowed. Especially the serrated part.
