I got into Topre switches from /r/MK. After seeing several posts about the Leopold FC660C, I fell in love with the design of the board. I got a CoolerMaster switch tester with a Topre clone (I believe it's a NovaTouch with MX compatible stem) off a drop, here. After playing with that for a while, I decided to pull the trigger and get an FC660C off /r/mechmarket. I absolutely love this board. It is fantastic to type on.

GarrrgoyleI am a little jealous. I got the Realforce 87u 55g and love it so much that I want to get the fc660c for travel but I really wanted the beige one with gray mods. But right now mechanicalkeyboards.com is out of stock. They only have the black one with all dark gray caps. I emailed them to see when it would be back in stock and they didn't know but said they would let me know when it was. Not sure I can wait!

I love topre swtiches, too. I have 87U, 103U, 106 low noise, and HHKB pro2. I will never forget the moment when I use 104U 55g for the first ime.

Any word on another 87u drop? I'm patiently waiting for the white 87u 55g to come back in stock on the EK website but I am so nervous that as soon as I order it a custom variant or something is going to drop here lol.

NanashiWandererI was waiting as well but just pulled the trigger and got it while it was available on amazon for about a day. Totally work paying full price for it. Has been my daily driver ever sense. And right away ordered the Topre spacebars that were on MD.

Keycaps, all Granite on both boards. 6u spacebar modified a bit.

BrannyAre you talking about the clones like in the recent Royal Kludge Topre clone board? I have it in 55g but it feels in between 45-55 to me. Just compared it to a RF 55g and they're very similar but the RK is more muted, probably also due to the fact that the RK comes with o-rings factory installed.

I made the leap to Topre with a Novatouch in April and I'm obsessed. But I keep hearing how much better the Realforce is. So I'm considering getting one and swapping the Novatouch sliders in since I can't live without SA keycaps. My question is how is a Novatouch'd Realforce? Is it the same as the RF? Or is it too similar to the Novatouch because the problems are in the sliders? It's a lot of money if in the end it's not any better.

That is a beautiful board. I really love the Danger Zone legends but I didn't pull the trigger because it's not fully sculpted. Maybe that was a mistake.
So it sounds like the RF is worth it and substantially better than the Novatouch. I may go for it.
How are the 55gs? I tend to prefer lighter switches. I once bought a board with greens but they wore out my fingers so I swapped it for blues. But these 45g topre switches feel pretty light. Are 55g topres closer to greens?

I love my HHKB JP to death, but the Realforce is a clear winner for ME in regards of build quality and bang for the buck, the HHKB should be cheaper.
The Novatouch is fine and my deepest respect to CM for making Topre-Cherry-sliders an option, followed by many clones, but in regards of quality/sound and feel stock the Novatouch isn't even a challenge for a Realforce. I've bought two NT so far, but only for harvesting in the end, i gave it a try with different keycapsets, modded to be deathsilent ... , but it just doesn't fit for ME, your impression might be different!
Going "cheaper", i do find a Royal Kludge Topre clone the better deal, but it needs a little bit modding, too. Lubing the slider rails makes a huge difference in smothness, but still not as perfect as genuine Topre.
Going the Cherry way with a Realforce is quiet costly, Realforce, a Novatouch for harvesting and in my foolishness search for perfection, Hypersphere rings on top. The good, you although have a set of 45g domes from the Novatouch for fooling around to go two weights for the Realforce or lighter if you want that.
Sometime ago i had a mk with greens and had been surprised how "light" i found them, the pure numbers given, i thought they might be more heavy. Now i can only rely on my memory, but i'm tempted to say, you like greens, the odds might be good, that you like 55g Topre, too.

A question. Are the Novatouch switches similar to those of Topre and HHKB?
I have this CM switch tester, and Novatouch switch is not quite what I expected..

I just couldn't resist this deal. Not only did I get an FC660C, but it came with a Kosmonavt and some blank modifiers! I got the Saber (triple-shot Sahara) from the first Keyforge raffle sale a couple weeks ago. So excited to get it all set up!

I feel like if HHKB were able to work with Hypersphere for his silencing rings for all future HHKB type S', and if HHKB were to adopt 55g as a possible weighting or 35g - they'd take the community by storm all over again.

How do you do per-key RGB lighting on a Shift V2?
I saw the online configurator that lets you do this on the Shift V1, where it spits out a compiled firmware file to flash. The V2 doesn't seem to have this function in the Windows configurator, though. I can't imagine the answer here is "you're going to have to manually write the hex for every key in QMK, compile it, and flash that".
