Travel Pants

more_vert
I'd love to find some convertible travel pants that are a functional and don't look horrid. Some of the hiking pants are pretty close but they just don't look very good.

idoc72+1 on Prana Zions. Not cheap, but very much worth the price.

I agree the prana zions are very nice and come in convertiable. I wear mine hiking or just at home. Stretchy, breathable and comfy. You should try them out!

I used to travel to China and Japan from the East Coast and invested heavily in the right cloth for that ride. My trial and error brought me to Cabella's tactical cargo pants. They don't make as many colors as they used to, but they are lightweight, don't wrinkle or stain/show dirt and they have in pocket organizer slots built in. Great for the money.

I've settled on some convertible pants I found at Costco. They're comfortable, very functional, and cheap ($20). That said, they're not great looking but if you're not paying too close attention they can pass for regular slacks.

cz6y48I have a lot of great hiking pants, and yet I too bought some $20 travel pants from Costco. Mine are not convertible, but they do have upf rating, water resistant finish and a right calf zippered pocket. The pants are fitted but not skinny so they look like slacks, but have a bit of a stretch. I don't expect them to last nearly as long as my Rab or O.R. pants, for example, but they are also less techy looking and I wear them to work and on business trips.

I have two pairs of non-convertible Montbell pants (bought them in Korea; not sure on the model name). I like them a lot. They can pass for dress pants (especially if your shirt isn't tucked in and covers the small logo on the back), are slightly stretchy, and have zippered front pockets. They come in varying thicknesses for different climates too! I used to bring these on work trips, wear them to conferences, and then take them out walking around and exploring if I could stay for the weekend.
