I'll get this kick started. Here's most of my gear for my trip this weekend:
search

I'm guiding a group up Mount Shasta. It's a three-day trip, all on snow except for the first two miles. Temps will range from below freezing to high 70s. We start our summit bid at 2am, and we walk slowly, so I need warmer gear than if I was doing this trip by myself. I also need more safety gear as a guide. Not shown are my food and kitchen setup, which are provided by my guide company.
Here are a few of the key items: -Mountainsmith Mountainlite Specter LT pack (4500 cu in, 68 oz) -Massdrop Custom 20' Down Quilt (20 oz) -Massdrop x Klymit UL Insulated Static V Pad (16.9 oz) and pillow (1.7 oz) -Black Diamond HiLight (49 oz) -Modified Adventure Medical Kits UL/WT Pro -Rab clothing: Endurance Parka, Xenon Hoody, Meco Hoody, Sawtooth Pants

I know I could go lighter with:
-Switching out my boots from Scarpa Summit to Scarpa ZeroG XCR -Buying a lighter BD helmet and harness -Buying a lighter, simpler mid-layer than the Rab Xenon, possibly hoodless and with fewer pockets

Here is my load from a Trinity Alps trip a couple of weeks ago. Got my Steripen Ultra here at Massdrop and it serviced three people that weekend. Third trip for the Exped UL 7 LW pad and slept great. Custom ULA CDT with no hip belt, Western Mountaineering Mitylite, MLD Solomid XL. A homemade bivy, Montbell down parka and my trusty 600ml Evernew pot with Caldera cone and Starlyte stove round out the main things.

DannyMilksI would be interested in hearing how the quilt feels at elevation. I have slept in a Black Diamond Megamid at around 10,200' on Shasta, in somewhat colder and very windy conditions, and remember it feeling downright freezing. Fortunately, I had a very warm bag for that trip. Do you sleep with an extra layer of socks or booties at night? Are you wearing all (or most) of the Rab gear while sleeping?

Rinji@Rinji - I'll let you know how the trip goes, including the new Massdrop quilt. I do sleep in my down parka in a quilt, as it covers my shoulder and head. It also makes it easier to get out of bed in the morning when my parka is already toasty warm. For my legs, I usually just wear a thin baselayer, thin socks, and then stuff my mid layer down there to take up space or wrap around my feet or knees if I'm particularly cold.

JerkyKen@JerkyKen -- a WM MityLite eh! Now that is a quilt one does not see listed/used very often. Probably only the second time in 5+ years I have seen somebody list it. Cool. (y)
I got to use one of the first MLD Solomid XL after Ron released them. Pretty dang sweet shelter. Played around with different setup configurations of it. You can really open up that sucker to have some major air flow and livable space, if bad weather is not an issue and you are creative.
Here are photos from my first encounter with the Solomix XL (backyard, but it was still fun playing with a new shelter) https://www.facebook.com/HikeLighter/photos/?tab=album&album_id=231548753635622
The Trinity Alps are a little under 100 miles from my place. What a truly beautiful location, eh! If you ever think about going back up there, check out the Trinity High Route, designed by Sir Deems himself.

JerkyKenOut of curiosity, did you have ULA remove the hipbelt, or did you do it yourself? How much does it weigh without it? I've always very much been interested in the ULA, but I'm not as much interested in a pack with a hip belt.

NeistI had ULA build me a custom CDT with no hip belt, or pole/ice axe attachments. It's large and weighs 16.something ounces. Love the S shoulder straps.

JerkyKenThat's very interesting. I might have to look into one. Drawstring packs are hard to come by. Thanks for the reply!
