Lend a hand?

Loving the idea of this knitting community. It seems awful quiet though (as far as drops go, I mean). Is there anything we as members can help to get the ball rolling on amazing yarns, notions, patterns, kits, etc.?

The visions began when something about getting a ball rolling was mentioned. I will recycle gallon milk jugs and cut away a part of it and leaving the handle in place. To hook that jug easily on the frame under my glass desk, I cut the handle a bit or attach a shower curtain thing to it and then hang the jug under my desk to put a ball of yarn in to keep it from rolling. The best yarn bowls for me are big plastic jars with a top. Keep kitties from claiming your yarn put the lid on it when you are taking a break. Or cut a notch on the lid to permit the yarn come out of the jar but keep the yarn covered. Usually, the things I keep are big enough to store a project along with the yarn. Whew!! Did I say too much?

I bought the inexpensive set from Michaels and eventually stopped using it. The connections kept catching on my projects. I was making shawls with good yarn and it was frustrating. But bought with a coupon it was an excellent buy and good for beginners. I am retired and a $150 set of addies or comparable is not in my budget. So I buy the sizes, usually hiya hiya’s that I need. I may have spelled that wrong. 😍

I want good quality, natural yarn, too. I am trying to stay away from plastic everything. If I take the time and trouble to make something, I want a nice piece when I am done.

How about quality yarn at a decent price or interchangeable knitting needle sets

JabranI too would like to see better quality yarns. More natural fibre. As well as interchangeable needle sets I would purchase individual fixed length circular needles.

JabranYes on good IC (interchangeable circular) sets! I'd love to hear about anyone's experience with their IC sets.

How about some pattern packs. Ex. Blanket/afghan pack-shawl pack-sweater packs?

I know nothing about knitting. I'm just here for gifts for my girlfriend. I'm just glad we aren't carrying acrylic yarn anymore because she doesn't like acrylic.

corbmonsterPossibly because she wants to enjoy knitting instead of feeling like she has to fight with it every step of the way :)

How about some extra-special knitting tools like those available from Coco Knits? http://store.cocoknits.com/tools I’ve had my eye on their leather stitch holder kit for awhile now but can’t yet justify the price - a discount would totally put me over the edge!

I love the idea of the knitting community, but I have not seen anything that piqued my interest. Can you include some weaving items?
