I only have one contender. My Gent is in rosewood. It's almost to pretty to abuse, so I'll just take it to church. It's a tad small, but there is nothing else negatively that I can say about it.

So I had such a positive experience with the Laconico Keen drop that decided to get in on the latest FF Gent Select drop.. I think it was inevitable.. I have a lowkey addiction to carbon fiber gentleman blades. Drops Christmas Eve.. I'll have the Gent to start the new year with!

I own both. They're really for different occasions. I like the Keen as more EDC than anything else. It's got a great shape for opening packages and envelopes. As for the Gent, I save that as a fancy occasions knife. It's short enough that most people don't think twice and the clip is not easily distinguished from a pen clip.

Cons for me are the tip up carry which can be dangerous for fingers. One is a gentleman's knife the other looks like it would look great out in the woods...i prefer the length of the Laconico. Just my 02 cents.

Any knife that will open in pocket to allow damaging a finger was not properly made. A tip up knife HAS to have detent to prevent that, and be well made enough that it will not have enough closed blade play to allow that. I am really sorry you got hurt by something unsafe my friend, but tip up carry on well made blades almost always is safe.
I haven't handled a keen, but the detent on my gent is stiff enough that I can't easily open it without using the flipper. I can pinch it open, but it isn't easy. For reference my wife couldn't get it open without flipping it and she's a heathy woman in her early thirties. If it opened in my pocket by accident, I would be shocked.

There are probably very few people that own both these knives. Then there is an even smaller amount that will actually see and respond to this post. I recommend that you read the reviews that people post on Massdrop or watch review videos. I own a Gent. I love it

erickongOh yeah.. I've been on youtube for the last three days checking out vids. Probably the disassembly video I saw for the Gent along with the overabundance of carbon fiber knives I currently own.. have led to me getting in on the Laconico drop. Thanks for the feedback.
